Paju café with filter coffee bean choice and financiers: Pound Coffee

In short

Pound Coffee Unjeong Main Branch is a café beside a park in Unjeong, Paju, serving Melbourne-style Australian coffee and baked goods made the same day. Filter coffee comes with a choice of beans with or without acidity, and an afternoon visit meant the salty caramel financier was already sold out, leaving cinnamon sugar and vanilla plain. For the financier flavour you actually want at Pound Coffee, go in the morning or order a Naver Reservation pickup.

I was on a drive near Paju and heard this place was known as the go-to spot for baked goods in Unjeong, so I stopped by Pound Coffee Unjeong Main Branch.

Parking and park-view seats at Pound Coffee Unjeong Main Branch

Pound Coffee Unjeong Main Branch is at 20 Wasukswunhwan-ro 192beon-gil, 1st floor, Paju, Gyeonggi, South Korea, and there's parking for about 3 cars right in front of the café. If those spots are full, the Health Park parking lot nearby works fine too.

Being right next to the park, the window seats with their greenish view were really nice.

The interior itself is spacious too, perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee at a relaxed pace.

Why a Paju bakery café sells so many lattes

Pound Coffee is known as a baked-goods spot in Unjeong, but they also use a good coffee machine, so you can't help but expect good coffee too — and beyond the basic americano, I noticed a lot of orders for the various lattes.

Bar area with the coffee machine

I heard that most of the baked goods are usually gone by around 3pm, and sure enough, I saw customers picking up just the financiers to go, not even coffee.

Overall, the café's vibe matches its wood tones with calm white tones, and the displayed decor pieces fit the mood well too.

Pound Coffee menu and prices

Pound Coffee's coffee menu board

Pound Coffee sells coffee, non-coffee drinks, and ice cream. Coffee options range from espresso to americano, filter coffee, lattes, and flat whites, and for filter coffee you can actually choose beans with or without acidity. On top of that, for any coffee, you can pay extra to switch to decaf, switch to oat milk, or add a shot.

Menu board listing ades and ice cream

Besides coffee, there was a good variety of ades and ice cream flavors too — espresso ₩4,500, americano ₩4,500, filter coffee priced depending on the bean, vanilla bean latte ₩5,500 — and given it's a good-vibe café right next to a park, the pricing didn't feel unreasonable at all.

Ordering filter coffee and a financier at Pound Coffee

I mainly drink filter coffee these days, so I ordered filter coffee and a financier without a second thought. It's honestly surprising every time how there's always room for dessert even after a filling lunch.

Filter coffee and financier on the table

Pound Coffee started here in Unjeong, Paju, but it follows an Australian Melbourne-style coffee culture — I've never been to Australia, but it's nice to get this kind of indirect experience.

Salty caramel financier sold out by afternoon

Apparently their financiers are quite different from the factory-baked style, so most of them are already sold out by morning. I really wanted the salty caramel one, but someone ordered ahead of me and it was sold out... The remaining cinnamon sugar and vanilla plain financiers both looked delicious though. At around ₩3,000 each, the price is reasonable too, so they'd make a good gift.

How to reserve baked goods for pickup on Naver

They pair really, really well with coffee. For baked goods, it's convenient to reserve ahead on Naver — there's a page for reserving and picking up in-store, and pickup is available from 10:30am to 7pm, with same-day reservations possible depending on stock. The financiers are delicious just eaten plain, but people often give them as gifts too, so rather than worrying whether they'll sell out in-store, it's nice that they're handmade and sold directly — great for gifting.

Financiers packed for takeout

I heard this place is known not just for americano and filter coffee but for its lattes too, so next time I'd like to visit a bit earlier and enjoy the financier flavors I missed this time along with a leisurely cup of coffee.
