New Daejeon burger restaurant with T-shirt merch: Burgiz Daeheung

In short

Burgiz Daeheung is a newly opened branch of a handmade burger brand that started in Daejeon in 2017, in the alley beside Sariwon Myeonok near Jung-ang-ro Station, right in front of the Daejeon Lifelong Learning Center. The visit covered four burgers — Cheese, Hangover, Godfather and Mushroom — in an American-style room that also sells burger T-shirt merch, with unlimited drinks on set orders. Burgiz Daeheung is walking distance from Sungsimdang, which makes it an easy pick for a Daeheung-dong date or a meal with friends.

If you like handmade burgers in Daejeon, you've probably heard of Burgiz! 🍔 I've known about the brand for a while, and when I heard they'd opened a new location in Daeheung-dong, I had to check it out. Burgiz is a handmade burger brand that started right here in Daejeon, so somehow it feels extra welcome compared to brands from other regions haha. Here's my thorough review.

Where is Burgiz Daeheung and what are its hours?

Burgiz is a handmade burger brand that started in Daejeon in 2017, and after Tanbang, Eoeun and Gwanpyeong locations, now there's a Daeheung branch too. It's in the alley right next to Sarwon Myeonok near Jung-ang-ro Station, and right in front of Daejeon Lifelong Learning Center and Daejeon Girls' Middle School, so it was really easy to find! It's also really close to Sungsimdang — walkable, actually — so I'd fully recommend it to anyone looking for a good spot near Sungsimdang.

Inside Burgiz Daeheung: American-style room and burger T-shirt merch

Burgiz is known for its handmade burgers, but you can't skip talking about the atmosphere either. The moment I walked into the Daeheung branch, I felt that distinctive hip, American vibe Burgiz is known for. Daeheung-dong itself is full of distinctive restaurants and cafés these days, which is why people go there for dates, and Burgiz fit right into that vibe. It felt less like a generic burger chain and more like a proper American-style handmade burger joint. There were plenty of photo spots too, so it was fun looking around the space before the food even arrived. 📸

Choosing what to order is always the hard part at a handmade burger place! Burgiz has a pretty wide range, from classic-style burgers to ones piled high with toppings. So if it's your first visit, I'd suggest going with the best-sellers or signature items. Ordering just a burger is fine, but you can't have a burger without fries, right? Haha. Order the burger + fries + drink set and you've got a full meal. This time I wanted to compare a few flavors, so I ordered three signature burgers plus the Cheese Burger — four in total.

How the handmade burgers at Burgiz Daeheung look

The burgers arrived! As you'd expect from handmade burgers, they looked thick and hearty at a glance. Compared to regular chain burgers, the ingredients were clearly stacked more generously, so just looking at them was satisfying. The patty especially had a real presence. One bite and the juices from the patty mixed with the sauce, cheese and vegetables all at once! With handmade burgers, sometimes too many ingredients means the flavors end up fighting each other, but Burgiz's overall combination worked well together, so it was genuinely delicious. And with burgers like this, you have to give up on eating neatly early on. Press it down with your hands and take a big bite — that's the only way! 😋

Hangover, Cheese, Godfather or Mushroom: which burger to pick

If you want something hearty, I'd recommend the Hangover Burger — beef patty, American cheese, grilled onion, lettuce, bacon, tomato, hash brown, fried egg and BBQ sauce. Personally, my top pick 🍔 If you want something simple and fresh, go with the Cheese Burger! If you're after the tang of raw onion and pickles, that's the Godfather — beef patty, double American cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles and Burgiz sauce, which honestly has a bit of a Subway vibe to it. If you like mushrooms, the Mushroom is genuinely delicious too, with a really chewy mushroom texture. Even the fries were thick-cut and looked premium — Burgiz Daeheung is a real find for handmade burgers in Daeheung-dong, Daejeon 👏👏👏

Is Burgiz Daeheung a good meal stop near Sungsimdang and Eunhaeng-dong?

Did you know drinks are unlimited with a set order? 👌👌 A lot of people these days end up wondering where to eat after a date around Daeheung-dong or Eunhaeng-dong, or after stopping by Sungsimdang. If you're craving something other than the usual, like an American-style handmade burger with a thick patty, this is a great place to stop by. The atmosphere is casual and hip, so it works well for visits with friends and for a simple meal on a date too. I'm glad Daeheung-dong now has one more good handmade burger option. 🍔 If you're craving a proper handmade burger in Daeheung-dong, Daejeon, I'd recommend Burgiz Daeheung!
