In short

Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch is a Vietnamese pho restaurant on the 1st floor of the Dongtan Station Richian shopping complex in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi, where every seat is bar-style and easy to take alone. Stopping by after work in the evening, the writer ordered brisket pho, sweet potato jjajo (fried spring rolls) and shrimp-wrapped potato rolls, and although there was an evening queue, tables turned over fast. Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch: a quiet spot for solo pho in Dongtan

Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch is a Vietnamese pho restaurant located in Unit 109 on the 1st floor of the Dongtan Station Richian shopping complex, in the building with Hayan Pungcha and Starbucks. I really love pho — I make sure to eat it at least once a month!

Whenever I want to eat alone during lunch break at work, or I just want a quiet solo meal after work, Mibundang is the place I keep coming back to. This time I stopped by Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch after work, since it had been a while. It's especially comfortable for eating alone, which is why it's one of my favorite solo-dining spots in Dongtan 〰️🖤

What kind of pho restaurant is Mibundang?

Some of you might be hearing about Mibundang for the first time. Mibundang is a restaurant serving Vietnamese pho, but it has a slightly different vibe from your typical pho place! They put a lot of value on eating quietly and comfortably, so even when dining inside, it's the kind of place where people eat quietly.

I rushed over to Mibundang the second I got off work. Mibundang looks clean during the day too, but visiting in the evening with the lighting on made the area around Dongtan Station look even prettier. Being the popular Dongtan Station spot it is, there was a wait during dinner time.

How long was the evening wait at Mibundang?

Since pho is a fast-turnover kind of dish, Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch moves quickly, and there are chairs set up out front to sit and wait, so it was more comfortable than I expected. A nice touch unique to Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch: they set out cold heotgae water (Korean raisin tree tea) for you to drink while you wait.

Takeout orders are also available, so if you'd rather skip the wait, choosing fully cooked or half-cooked takeout to enjoy at home is another option! But if it's your first time at Mibundang, I'd recommend going in person to feel the atmosphere and eat the pho hot and fresh on the spot.

What we ordered at Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch

This time at Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch, I picked three things: brisket pho, sweet potato jjajo (fried spring rolls), and shrimp-wrapped potato rolls. Mibundang has quite a variety of pho types and side dishes, so you can pick according to your taste. Since it had been a while since my last visit, I went with my favorites.

  • ✔️ Brisket pho
  • ✔️ Sweet potato jjajo
  • ✔️ Shrimp-wrapped potato rolls

Even just the pho alone is a pretty generous portion, but the sides are so good that I always order at least one alongside it. Definitely order a side!

All bar seats: why Mibundang is easy for solo diners

Walking into Mibundang, the first thing you notice is the long row of single seats. Every single seat in the store is bar-style, making it the ideal spot for solo diners at Dongtan Station 〰️🖤

On the table, there's hoisin sauce, chili sauce, and hot sauce set out to go with the pho. It was convenient that each table has its own, so you can portion out however much you need.

If you run low on water or side dishes while eating, just set them up on the shelf above the table and the staff will quietly take care of it. If you want cilantro, you can request it separately.

How was the brisket pho at Mibundang?

My favorite, the Mibundang brisket pho, arrived. It's so covered in meat that you can't even see the noodles underneath.. Plenty of brisket piled on top, along with a generous amount of bean sprouts and green onion, making it look seriously appetizing right off the bat.

I took a spoonful of the broth first, and yep — delicious as always

A spoonful of pho broth lifted from the bowl

It's not too strong or salty, clean but with a deep flavor coming from the meat, so it was exactly right for my taste.

One of Mibundang's flavor highlights is the hot sauce! Their pho sauces are all delicious, so mixing in hot sauce and hoisin sauce to your taste turns it into a whole different kind of delicious. Pho can get repetitive after a while, but here you can switch up the flavor so it never gets old..

Sides: shrimp-wrapped potato rolls and sweet potato jjajo

And here's another thing I love about Mibundang — the side dishes! All of the fried items are good, so it was hard to choose

Crispy fried Mibundang side dish

First up, the shrimp-wrapped potato rolls! Plump shrimp tucked between crispy fried potato — delicious on its own, but even better dipped in chili sauce.

The shrimp potato rolls are great, but.. the one I love even more is the sweet potato jjajo — you have to try this one

Sweet potato filling inside a halved sweet potato jjajo

The outside is fried crispy while the inside is filled with sweet, soft sweet potato, which pairs really well with the pho. Especially when you're eating the pho spicy with hot sauce and then take a bite of the sweet potato jjajo — that right there is pure bliss... Personally, if you're visiting Mibundang for the first time, I'd recommend ordering one pho plus one side dish.

At Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch, once you finish eating, there's mouthwash and candy set out too, so you can wrap things up feeling fresh to the end. Taking care of these little details seems to be one of Mibundang's strengths.
