Ingye-dong restaurant's new hanchi mulhoe, rice in melted broth cube

In short

Jeju Eunhuine Haejangguk Suwon Ingye Branch is a Korean restaurant near Suwon City Hall Station serving ox-bone hangover soup and Jeju-style dishes. The new hanchi mulhoe (cold squid and vegetable soup) comes with a melting broth cube, and after adding cheongyang chili and minced garlic, rice mixed into the leftover broth made for a satisfying finish, while the tripe soup was clean with no gamy smell and the spring cabbage wrap served with the small dombe pork was especially fresh. It's the kind of place you can pick without a second thought when you're craving a hot bowl of soup.

Went to Ingye-dong and can't decide on a restaurant because there are just too~ many options? Jeju Eunhuine Haejangguk Suwon Ingye Branch is on my no-brainer list of Ingye-dong restaurants.

There's a stone haruban (Jeju grandfather statue) that greets you cheerfully every time, making you feel like you've actually traveled to Jeju. Here's my honest review ☺️

What's the interior and exterior like?

There's a "Hello JEJU" sign on the exterior. It somehow made me feel like I'd just landed at Jeju airport, already on vacation.

I guess since it's summer, they put a hat on the stone haruban. From the entrance alone, I felt like I was on a trip to Jeju and walked in excitedly.

Inside, the tables are spaced wide apart, and with tables for 4 to 6 people, it seems great for lunch gatherings or small get-togethers.

New hanchi mulhoe, melting the broth cube

A new menu I hadn't seen before — hanchi mulhoe. Told it was Jeju-style, with a savory doenjang broth full of Jeju squid and fresh vegetables, I ordered it on trust.

There's a broth cube in it, and at first I thought, "Is that watermelon?" haha. Once the cube had melted a bit, I picked out the vegetables and squid, then added a little cheongyang chili and minced garlic!! The extra heat made the hanchi mulhoe even more delicious.

I neatly mixed a spoonful of rice into the leftover broth and slurped it down. I love mixing hot rice into leftover mulhoe broth >ㅁ<

Tripe soup loaded with ugeoji and bean sprouts

Tripe soup, clean with no gamy smell

Naejangtang packed with beef tripe, small intestine, fresh ugeoji, and bean sprouts.

Chewy intestine and visibly fresh ugeoji. I wondered, can tripe soup really be this clean? — there wasn't a hint of gamy smell, it was just delicious. Everything was so fresh that my husband picked out and ate all the solid ingredients first without mixing in rice, then mixed rice in at the very end. A plate of small dombe pork served with spring cabbage

Small dombe pork and spring cabbage wraps

Dombe pork (small), 120g, ₩13,000. An insane combination of lean meat and fat — the chewy fat paired with lean meat that wasn't dry at all worked its magic, getting our second kid to polish off half a bowl of rice.

Another pleasant surprise came with the spring cabbage served alongside the dombe pork!! My husband and I wondered, is spring cabbage even in season right now? and wrapped a bite anyway — it was so fresh and fragrant, absolutely delicious.
