Suwon Korean restaurant feast set with pork hot pot: Ok Doenjang
In short
Ok Doenjang Suwon Hommaesil Branch is a retro-style Korean restaurant on Geumgok-ro in Hommaesil, Suwon. The writer ordered the feast set (잔칫상 세트) and worked through boiled pork hot pot, seasoned boiled pork, and squid minari pancake, plus clean basic side dishes of grilled seaweed, stir-fried kimchi, and seasoned bean sprouts. It's a good fit for a family meal or group dinner looking for a generous spread, and the writer plans to return.

The day I went to Ok Doenjang in Suwon Hommaesil for the feast set
Today I want to share my visit to Ok Doenjang Suwon Hommaesil Branch, a retro-style Korean restaurant that's been getting a lot of buzz on Instagram and blogs lately.
The deep, home-cooked flavor that felt like something my mom used to make, combined with a modern, clean interior, made it perfect for a family meal or a group dinner! I especially ordered the feast set, which lets you try all the signature dishes at once, and it turned out to be more generous than I expected — very satisfying.

What comes in the feast set?
🍲 What I ordered that day was, true to its name, a generous feast set. It's a solid lineup that pulls together Ok Doenjang's best menu items, so it's a great choice when you're dining with a few people and don't want to overthink the order.

1. Boiled pork hot pot with a broth that's the real standout
The main dish, packed with fresh beef pork boiled that same day. It comes out simmered in a deep broth with tender, soft boiled pork, plus plenty of minari (water dropwort) and mushrooms. Once it's bubbling away, dip the meat in the special sauce and the savory meat flavor mixes with the fragrant minari and fills your mouth. The broth was so deep and rich it worked great both with rice and as a drinking snack.

The stir-fried kimchi, seasoned bean sprouts, and grilled seaweed that come as basic side dishes were clean and simple, in the best way.

2. Seasoned boiled pork that really wakes up your appetite
A little specialty dish that cuts right through any richness that might build up. Sweet, tangy, and spicy seasoning tossed with vegetables and tender boiled pork made it perfect to eat in between bites of the hot pot and pancake.

3. Squid minari pancake — crispy and fragrant done right
This was easily the standout among the side dishes. The minari pancake is fried golden and crisp in Ok Doenjang's special batter, generously loaded with chewy squid. Crispy outside, moist inside — it pairs perfectly with the broth from the boiled pork hot pot.

Tips to enjoy Ok Doenjang to the fullest, and my overall take
- Tip for enjoying it: try combining the basic side dishes at every table — grilled seaweed and stir-fried kimchi — with the boiled pork or the smoked duck salad. It doubles the savoriness.
- Atmosphere: a warm, tidy retro vibe that's great for taking your parents or catching up with old friends over a meal.
- Overall take & would I return: living up to the name 'feast set,' the visual and composition of a table fully spread out, plus this new smoked duck salad, exceeded my expectations. It nails both value and flavor, so I'll definitely be back — 100%!
If you're near Hommaesil in Suwon and looking for properly done boiled pork and doenjang (soybean paste) dishes, or just a generous spread on the table, definitely give Ok Doenjang Suwon Hommaesil Branch a visit!
There's also a new menu item: smoked duck salad
I didn't get to try it, but I noticed they just launched a new item!
🔥 It's the light and fragrant 'smoked duck salad' (오리훈제무침). Apparently the savory, light flavor unique to smoked duck is tossed together with crunchy minari and a tangy, spicy special sauce. The chewy texture of the smoked duck and the crunch of fresh vegetables come together for a savory, distinctive appeal that's different from the boiled pork — sounds like it'd work well both as a drinking snack and a side dish.
