Jeju snack shop with square oranda 5+1 and 5 gwajul: Cheongchuni

I always make a point of visiting local markets when I travel, and Dongmun Market is one I really love! Buying all kinds of tasty things and browsing souvenirs and snacks you can only find in Jeju is such a fun part of the trip. On this Jeju trip too, I went to Dongmun Market and found a snack shop I really fell for — Cheongchuni Oranda!

Where is Cheongchuni Oranda? A snack shop by Dongmun Market Gate 9

Cheongchuni Oranda, close to Gate 9 of Dongmun Market, sells oranda (soft rice snack) as its name suggests, along with gwajul (crunchy fried rice snack) in various flavors. With so many types and prices that aren't a burden at all, it's a great spot to buy for yourself as a snack or as a gift.

Especially if you buy a set, they pack it in a pretty box, so I'd really recommend this place to anyone looking for a great Jeju souvenir shop! Plus, online ordering and delivery are available, so you don't even need to carry it around heavy — you can just send it as a gift easily.

Tasting samples before choosing the oranda and gwajul flavors

With so many flavors, types, and shapes, I spent a long time deciding what to buy. Both the oranda and the gwajul came in several flavors, and there were samples of oranda right in front, so I could actually try the flavors I was curious about before choosing. In the end, I tasted one after another, and there were so many good ones that I ended up picking a huge pile...

What's in the square oranda 5+1 and 5-flavor gwajul set

I considered buying one of the pretty boxed gift sets, but in the end what I chose was the square oranda 5+1 and gwajul 5-flavor set. All together it came to ₩25,000. So much food for so little money..! Really a great place to buy souvenirs at Dongmun Market. Being able to pick several flavors and share them is the best part too!

Piece size: easy to break up and share

The size is definitely not small. My hands aren't small either, and it was almost exactly the size of my hand! Each block is scored into 9 pieces, so it was super easy to pull one out at a time. Great for sharing with a group, and just the right size to enjoy with tea or coffee~

The gwajul is definitely not small either! And it has some thickness to it, so even one piece feels surprisingly filling. Great to share with family or friends, or to nibble on one at a time back at your accommodation while traveling.

How long the oranda and gwajul keep at room temperature

Storage was simple too — they told me the square oranda is best kept at room temperature and lasts a month that way, and the round gwajul is also best at room temperature, lasting 2 weeks. Even if you can't eat it right away while traveling, it seems fine to take a bit out at a time.

Why yuzu gwajul is the flavor to buy at Cheongchuni Oranda

With snacks like this, taste matters most — and I was truly won over..! The gwajul came in yuzu, nut, mayong, gamtae (sea lettuce), and other flavors, and from the moment I tasted the samples, my absolute favorite was the yuzu. They told me yuzu is their signature flavor, and I could see exactly why. It's seriously so good!! Sweet and chewy, with a tangy yuzu finish rising up at the end — totally my type. Sometimes if you pick the wrong oranda, it ends up too hard or greasy instead of chewy, but Cheongchuni Oranda had none of that — just the right sweetness and a chewy texture that kept me reaching for more.

It was so exactly my style that... even though I bought it as a gift..! It was so good I nibbled on it the whole trip haha. That's how good this Dongmun Market souvenir shop really is!
