Eunpyeong Korean BBQ with aged beef ribs: Sambaek Hanu Daecheop
In short
Sambaek Hanu Daecheop is a Hanwoo Korean BBQ restaurant in Eunpyeong, Seoul. I ordered a platter of aged beef ribs, added garlic beef ribs, and finished with mul naengmyeon and complimentary doenjang jjigae. Verdict: a satisfying meal for comparing two styles of beef ribs.

Going out for Hanwoo in Yeonsinnae
Today, I went to Sambaek Hanu Daecheop for Hanwoo in Yeonsinnae 🥩 Right from the entrance, there was a clear sign saying they sell genuine Grade 1+ or higher Hanwoo 👀

When you see a sign like that outside a BBQ place, your expectations immediately go up haha. I thought, let’s have some proper Hanwoo in Yeonsinnae, and went right in 😎 The restaurant was cleaner than I expected, with tables lined up throughout, so it was a comfortable place to eat 😊

A platter of aged beef ribs, plus an extra order
After looking over the menu and thinking it through, I ordered a platter of aged beef ribs 🥩 But as I kept looking at the menu, the garlic beef ribs kept catching my eye too 👀 In the end, I couldn’t resist and added them as well haha. It’s really hard to spend responsibly when there’s meat in front of you 😂

Aprons were ready on one side, so anyone who needs one can use it comfortably 😆 When you’re eating meat, a drop of grease always seems to land on you on the one day you wore white, haha.

While waiting for the meat, the basic side dishes were set out first 😋 There was kimchi, pickled radish, a range of good accompaniments, and shredded scallions too 🌿 Meat can get rich now and then, but having these sides made it easy to reset my palate and keep eating haha.

There was also a tablet for ordering right at the table, which was convenient since I didn’t have to call a staff member 👍 Tissues were placed beside the table too, so you could handle almost everything you needed without leaving your seat 😆

The restaurant was also running a receipt review event 👀 After verifying your receipt and writing a review, you could get either mul naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles in broth) or Hanwoo brisket ramen 😋 Meat and naengmyeon are practically an official pairing, so I absolutely welcome an event like this haha. Writing one review and getting noodles too somehow makes it feel like a little win 😎

Time to grill the aged beef ribs
Finally, the platter of aged beef ribs arrived 🥩🔥 The beef ribs filled the plate, and there was even a bone stamped with the Sambaek Hanu Daecheop name on top, so the presentation was spot-on from the start 😆 The portion looked generous too, so I was already oddly pleased as soon as it arrived haha.

There was a timer on the table, and during the set time they oil the grill. Thinking of it as prep time for delicious meat, I could wait as long as needed 😂

Once the grill was properly hot, it was finally time to put on the beef ribs 🔥🥩 The moment the meat hit the grill, it started sizzling. When you hear that sound, the conversation briefly stops haha. From then on, you know just by looking at each other. It’s time to focus on the meat 😎

Maybe because they were beef ribs, they definitely cooked quickly 🔥 As you flip them one by one, suddenly they’re nearly all done, and if you let your guard down for even a moment, it’s eating time 😆

I moved the cooked meat onto the metal plate beside the grill and started eating it piece by piece. Put a piece of meat on shredded scallions and eat them together—no words needed 🤤 The savory meat and tangy scallions went so well together that I just kept eating haha.

Dip the garlic beef ribs in sauce
Next up were the garlic beef ribs I had added earlier 🧄🥩 They were nicely saturated with marinade, giving them a different feel from the first beef ribs 😋 After plain beef ribs and then garlic beef ribs, I naturally ended up comparing them. The conclusion: order both and there’s no need to worry haha. I put the garlic beef ribs on the grill and cooked them until nicely browned 🔥 Because of the marinade, the aroma really rose as they cooked, and even though I was already fairly full, my chopsticks kept moving 😂

The garlic beef ribs came with a separate dipping sauce too. Personally, I recommend dipping them in this sauce rather than eating them plain 😋 Its salty, savory depth makes a piece of meat disappear in no time haha.

Finishing with mul naengmyeon and doenjang jjigae
The mul naengmyeon I received for writing a receipt review arrived too 🍜 After meat, you really can’t skip cool naengmyeon 😆 There were plenty of noodles, so the portion was better than I expected.

And because just eating naengmyeon would have felt a little incomplete, I wrapped up a remaining piece of meat and tried it 🥩 Cold naengmyeon with warm, savory beef ribs—meat and naengmyeon really never fail haha. The person who created this combination deserves an award 😂

Then, an unexpected complimentary doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) arrived too 😋 Even without ordering a stew separately, it came as a basic service, which was perfect when I wanted something brothy with the meat. With tofu and a hearty broth, it was a great way to end the meal warm and satisfied 🔥 After the beef ribs, garlic beef ribs, naengmyeon, and doenjang jjigae, it truly felt like I’d had a proper meal 😆 Sambaek Hanu Daecheop is a place I think of when I want to enjoy Hanwoo casually in Yeonsinnae 🥩🔥
