A Korean set-menu restaurant right by Wondang Station on Line 3
Kim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang, a Korean set-menu restaurant in Wondang. Wondang Station on Line 3 — during the subway construction period it was going to be called Seongsa Station, but Goyang locals kept calling the area Wondang, so it ended up as Wondang Station. With redevelopment picking up around the station and new apartments going up, the neighborhood vibe near Samsong is changing a lot too. There are fun cafés and restaurants around here worth exploring.

Wondang has long had a reputation for producing high officials and being a lucky spot haha. Right as you exit Wondang Station on Line 3, there's Kim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang, a Wondang set-menu restaurant.
Parking and access
Great subway access for a Wondang set-menu restaurant haha, Kim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang. There's a wide parking lot right in front, so parking is really convenient 👍 *The late-autumn sky is so high and pretty.

Atmosphere and service
The restaurant has a first and second floor, and even during my weekday early dinner, people were already coming in. The tables are wide and well spaced. Not cramped at all — a comfortable space. Above all, the staff are incredibly kind. They check whether you're too hot or too cold and make sure you can eat comfortably. An elderly grandmother came in, and it was touching to see them guide her to the closest, easiest seat. Tteuranchae Bapsang set for 2 + ganjang gejang.

How to order the bapsang menu
There's a full set menu (bapsang) and an à la carte menu — if you order the bapsang set, you also need to add one main dish. *Pro tip: the à la carte items can be ordered individually, so if there are two of you, order different mains and share a variety. Grilled mackerel, charcoal-grilled meat, ganjang gejang — so many tempting options, but today we went with ganjang gejang.

Nine side dishes
Japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), fried eggplant, namul (seasoned vegetables), doraji (bellflower root) salad, and more. A whopping nine kinds of healthy, delicious side dishes came out. The japchae was great, and the namul and other sides were so clean-tasting and moreish that I kept going back to the self-serve bar for refills. The doraji namul especially was tangy, so I kept eating it.

Ganjang gejang for ₩18,000 — a really generous portion
The ganjang gejang we added on. It's ₩18,000, but the portion is really, really big. Dried red chili flakes are sprinkled on top, doubling how appetizing it looks. Beautifully plated, as befits a Wondang set-menu restaurant.

Ganjang gejang that melts away in the sweet-salty sauce. However much you eat, there's still plenty left, and that generosity is part of what makes it good. The soy sauce marinade has that delicious sweet-and-salty flavor. A spoonful of rice with the crab meat is pure heaven 🦀

Stone-pot rice, nurungji, and refillable cheonggukjang
The freshly made stone-pot rice was so good eaten alongside the side dishes. After scooping out the rice, they pour hot water into the pot for the nurungji, and after a while it opens up into a deeply nutty scorched rice tea. Getting to enjoy freshly cooked rice and nurungji, with this many delicious side dishes to go with them — that's what makes this a genuine Wondang set-menu restaurant haha.
The nutty cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew) is refillable too. Made with big chunks of tofu and hearty beans, it was a total rice thief. So good haha.

Self-serve side dish corner
The great thing is there's a self-serve side dish corner where you can freely top up whatever side you're running low on. Everything is neatly arranged, and the freshly fried eggplant in particular was really tasty.

Side dishes, cheonggukjang, and sikhye for takeout
The side dishes and cheonggukjang I enjoyed are also sold in small takeout containers, so you can buy more to bring home, and they also sell sikhye (sweet rice punch), great for dessert!! Priced at ₩5,000 per pack ❤️

Freshly made stone-pot rice, nutty cheonggukjang, and fresh healthy sides — Kim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang Wondang Station Branch, at 1445-28 Goyang-daero, Deogyang-gu.

A Wondang set-menu restaurant with after-meal coffee. Such a nice touch.

When it's busy, they seem to run a Catch Table waitlist too haha.

Good for family gatherings and group meals?
With its slightly hanok-like atmosphere, it's a nice setting for a family gathering or a group meal, and clean, well-made Korean food is a crowd-pleaser that almost no one dislikes. You can order the baekban (rice with side dishes) plus an à la carte main, or go for the full set — either way it's a reasonably priced, good-value Wondang set-menu restaurant. Is there another Korean restaurant nearby with parking this easy, prices this good, and food this tasty? This might just be the best around.
