Sashimi bar in Jeonpo, Busan with side dishes and cold udon: Rigo

In short

Rigo Susan Jeonpo Station Main Branch is an aged sashimi pub a five-minute walk from Exit 8 of Jeonpo Station in Busanjin, Busan. Ordering the small assorted sashimi set brought a full spread of okonomiyaki, corn cheese, cold udon, tteokbokki and California rolls before the glossy aged sashimi itself arrived. With such a generous side spread, this Jeonpo bar is a great pick for a few soju rounds with friends.

Today I'm sharing my visit to Rigo Susan Jeonpo Station Main Branch, a well-known Jeonpo bar. I ordered the small assorted sashimi set and thoroughly enjoyed everything from the basic side spread to the main sashimi.

Finding Rigo Susan from Jeonpo Station

Rigo Susan is about a 5-minute walk from Exit 8 of Jeonpo Station.

Walking route from Exit 8 of Jeonpo Station to Rigo Susan

It's located between Jeonpo Jaljinae and Jeonpo Third Street, so anyone hunting for good food near Jeonpo Station should have no trouble finding it.

It's also not far from Jeonpo Café Street, so it's a great spot for a café tour during the day and drinks in the evening. There are quite a few sashimi spots in Jeonpo-dong, but Rigo Susan's big sign made it easy to spot, which was a nice plus.

A net-themed interior

Walking in, the net-themed interior was the first thing that caught my eye.

It had a strong ocean feel while still being cozy, making it a comfortable place to have a drink.

The lighting was also dimmed softly, giving it a calm atmosphere for conversation over drinks rather than a loud, bustling vibe.

The tables were spaced generously too, so we could chat without worrying much about the neighboring table.

With everything from group tables to couple seats, it felt like a Jeonpo bar that works well regardless of party size.

It seemed like a fitting spot both for gatherings with friends and for a date course.

Parking, reservations, and other things to know

Unfortunately there's no parking, so you'll need to use public transit or a nearby paid lot. There's a Catch Table tablet at the entrance where you can check waitlist status right away. Weekends can get a wait, so I'd recommend booking ahead before your visit.

The chopsticks and spoon came individually wrapped, which showed some real attention to hygiene.

Menu lineup and prices at Rigo Susan

Rigo Susan specializes in live-fish aged sashimi, and the menu lineup was really diverse. You can choose between things like a jeoneo (gizzard shad) sashimi set, a live sweet shrimp set, or a whole platter of aged assorted sashimi depending on your taste, with most menus starting around ₩49,000.

There were also side dishes like sea squirt, live octopus, and mackerel hand-rolled sushi, which looked great to pair with soju. The available fish varies a bit by season, so it's also nice that you can taste something different depending on when you visit.

Just looking at the menu made me want to order all sorts of things — the lineup was that well put together.

The small assorted sashimi set, starting with the sides

I ordered the small assorted sashimi set, and even the basic spread came out really generous.

After a palate cleanser of caramel popcorn, okonomiyaki, corn cheese, and fried squid and sweet potato arrived one after another.

Cool cold udon, sweet-and-spicy tteokbokki, and California rolls rounded things out, so I was already pretty full before the main sashimi even showed up.

The cold udon in particular had springy noodles and just-right broth seasoning — it felt more polished than a typical side dish.

The taste and texture of the aged assorted sashimi

The assorted sashimi finally arrived, and the glossy, shiny look alone was satisfying — you could clearly taste the chewy texture and umami that's characteristic of aging.

Dabbing on a bit of wasabi and dipping into soy sauce, the taste was clean with no fishy smell — quite impressive.

Putting a piece of sashimi over the sushi rice that came alongside gave it a whole different feel, which I really enjoyed.

One bite of sashimi with a shot of soju, and I understood exactly why everyone comes to this Jeonpo bar.

Final thoughts

If you're looking for a Jeonpo bar, I'd recommend Rigo Susan.

Between the main sashimi and the generous basic side spread, it's a place you can visit with a group without worry.

For anyone wanting fresh sashimi with a glass of soju, I'd recommend a visit to Rigo Susan.
