It had been ages since our last date, so we went to Seoul Botanic Park around Magok! While wondering which café nearby would be good, we stopped by Pict Roastery Magoknaru Branch (픽트로스터리 마곡나루점). It is easy to get to, has parking, and is only 10 minutes from Seoul Botanic Park!!! Seeing so many people visit, it must be known as a great coffee spot :)

Pict Roastery is apparently perfect for anyone looking for a proper hand-drip and brewing café in Gangseo-gu. There is a takeaway discount, you can buy beans, and it is ideal for takeout or delivery too, hehe. They offer two hours of free parking, so it is a comfortable café to visit by car as well.

There are so many types of beans. You can visit to buy them in person, but you can order them online too~~?? If coffee aroma and beans matter to you, you really have to try Pict Roastery's beans!!!

Black accents and a date-ready mood

The atmosphere has these dark black accents! It is great for photos and such a nice place for a date, hehe. The staff were kind too, so it became one of the Magoknaru cafés that stuck in my mind! We had come for weekend date coffee for the first time in ages, and since it is famous for hand-drip coffee, my expectations for how good it would be were through the roof!!!!

It has an open kitchen where you can watch the roasting happen right in front of you. It says they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, but I saw that they use those days to roast and inspect bean quality, and that made me feel how serious they are about their beans!

A day when, amazingly, I dressed up and put on makeup for a date for the first time in soooo long! There is a mirror in front, so you can take mirror selfies hahaahahaha.

Bean selection and a one-time refill service

If you have a coffee in the café, they say you can use the one-time refill service too. When I am chatting over a drink, I tend to finish it quickly, so Pict Roastery's one-time refill is such a thoughtful touch. For two cups of coffee at this price, isn't that great value~~?

When you order coffee, you can choose your beans, and the desserts looked so fancy that they made me want to try everything! After much deliberation, we chose an Americano, an iced café latte, and Kyoto matcha Basque cheesecake. Looking at the menu, I also noticed that Americanos are ₩2,000 off from 11 AM to 2 PM on weekdays, so Magoknaru office workers can get good-value coffee.

Hahahahahahahahahaha, my cute oppa whom I had not seen in ages. We sat by the window looking out at the outdoors and are enjoying a little healing time, hee-hee.

Low-acidity beans and matcha Basque cheesecake

What is this, making you go “ohhh” the moment it arrives? I chose a mild bean without acidity. I do not like acidic coffee, so being able to choose the bean I wanted was a huge plus, haha. The cheesecake looked fancy and delicious too. Perfect as a packaged dessert gift as well.

With the first bite, the Kyoto matcha aroma spreads everywhere, followed by the soft, moist cheesecake flavor. I love cheesecake so much that oppa and I properly tucked in. The cheesecake paired especially well with both the latte and Americano, so we enjoyed it even more.

How the iced café latte and Americano tasted

I love café lattes and vanilla lattes, so I was excited to see how the coffee and milk would work together. As expected, it was even better than I hoped—the coffee and milk were a perfect match, and the iced café latte was the best. The Americano was rich, deep, and warmly nutty, just pure coffee flavor; even the aroma was so good that I kept smelling it. Ahhhhh, another successful Magok date! Going to a café and enjoying a date again after so long made for such a different, happy day. After Seoul Botanic Park today, I fell for the café coffee—if you are serious about coffee, definitely visit Pict Roastery Magoknaru Branch.
