A genuine izakaya vibe with genuinely good food!

'Robadayakki Sodam,' a Yeouido izakaya I visited with a friend for a drink after work. Even on a weekday evening, it was already packed with office workers like us who'd stopped by for a post-work drink — a genuinely good spot.

Walking further inside, you can watch staff grilling all kinds of skewers right at the central counter, which made the atmosphere even better — it's a bar near Yeouido Station with real presence. No wonder the counter seats were so popular.

Atmosphere and seating at this Yeouido Station izakaya

The hall tables had high partitions, which made it feel more comfortable to spend time there. The overall vibe really captured the feel of an old-school Japanese izakaya. I visited around 7pm on a Wednesday, and even though it's a bar, it was already full of customers — clearly a well-known spot in the area.

The dim lighting really brought out the bar atmosphere. The wood tables added even more of that traditional Japanese feel. I was seated in what looked like an inner room, though it wasn't a fully private room since there was another table in there too.

Set menu composition and pricing

The set menus come in various combinations. We ordered the 2-person 4-dish set, which comes with a sashimi platter and assorted skewers — normally ₩48,000, but ₩44,000 with the set discount. Ordering a set also gets you 10% off sake, worth keeping in mind.

The signature menu includes 11 types of assorted grilled skewers (13 pieces), grilled Chilean sea bass, whole grilled Spanish mackerel, Kansai-style oden stew, and yurinchi (crispy fried chicken with tangy sauce). There are also soup-based dishes like pollack roe stew and stir-fried jjamppong that go well with drinks. The variety of grilled fish — like grilled Atka mackerel and grilled mackerel — was nice too, along with fried dishes like shrimp tempura and karaage. Sashimi is on the menu as well.

Being a Japanese-style bar near Yeouido and Saetgang Stations, they also have a wide selection of sake. If you want to really feel that Japanese atmosphere, Robadayakki Sodam is exactly the place.

Pre-meal service: fried egg and Earl Grey highball

While waiting after ordering, a fried egg came out as a complimentary pre-meal dish. Maybe because it was cooked on a hot stone plate, it tasted even better.

I also ordered a highball. My friend doesn't drink, so she passed. I got the Earl Grey highball, and it was delicious as expected. For those who don't drink, you can also order it without the alcohol!

What's in the sashimi platter?

The sashimi platter came out first, along with side dishes of pickled radish and pickled ginger.

The sashimi came with a basic selection — salmon, sea bream, halibut, and octopus.

It was a bit thick-cut, giving it a nice chewy texture, and all the fish were fresh — that freshness you can tell the moment it hits your mouth.

How were the assorted grilled skewers?

The skewers were exactly the kind I love! I usually divide skewers into two types: ones glazed with sauce and grilled crisp, and ones left slightly undercooked inside for a crunchier bite that lets the ingredient's natural flavor shine through. This izakaya near Yeouido Station, Robadayakki Sodam, does the sauce-glazed, slightly crispy kind with a good charcoal aroma baked in — totally my style.

A great spot near Saetgang Station to properly enjoy the robatayaki vibe. The set discount made it even better, and every single dish was good.
