Bass Burger Euljiro Branch (바스버거 을지로점) had been saved on my map for a long time because I was curious about its potato chips. This time, I ordered a Hawaiian Burger Combo and Double Crunch, along with the potato chips that are available without limit when you order from the menu.

What are the basement restaurant and seating like?

Because it is a burger restaurant in a basement, it felt more like a pub to me. There were seats for one person, four people, and groups, so I felt it would not be awkward to come alone.

Several portable chargers were available for customers to use. Each table had a tablet, so I could choose menu items and pay from my seat.

There was also an option to replace the standard bun with lettuce. I had the standard bun this time, but I would like to try the lettuce option next time.

What are the terms for free potato chips and sauces?

Ketchup, mustard, wet wipes, and straws were available by the entrance for customers to help themselves. Customers ordering sets or fried items could choose Bass Burger Sauce, mentaiko mayo, BBQ, ranch, and honey mustard for free. Kkwari pepper red mayo dip and truffle mayo dip were options with an additional ₩1,500 charge.

The James Gam potato chips I had been looking forward to were warm, house-made potato chips. With a menu order, you could help yourself without limit, using one plate per four people. Pepper was available right beside them.

I ordered Double Crunch and a Hawaiian Burger Combo, then added a cola. Sparkling water was also on the drink menu, which was a welcome option for me because I do not like sweet drinks but do like carbonation.

Even with the combo, I could have the potato chips alongside it, so it felt like a set meal. The chips were fine on their own, but they paired better with a sprinkle of pepper. I especially liked their crisp texture.

What did the Hawaiian Burger taste like?

The Hawaiian Burger contained a beef patty, cheddar cheese, low-sodium bacon, lettuce, a pineapple slice, and house sauce.

The beef patty was neither hard nor tough, with a pleasantly chewy texture. The sweet pineapple came with a smoky flavor and cheddar cheese, while the soft bun worked well with it.

What comes with Double Crunch?

Double Crunch with chicken and mini buns

Double Crunch was enough for two people to share, with two mozzarella cheese sticks, four pieces of Crunch Chicken, and two mini buns. It also came with coleslaw, sriracha mayo, and ranch sauce.

I spread sriracha mayo on the bottom half of each mini bun and ranch sauce on the top, then added coleslaw and chicken to eat it like a small chicken burger. The soft buns went well with the crisp, chewy chicken. The chicken itself was spicy, so it was fine without dipping it in sauce.

The mozzarella cheese sticks had cheese that stretched out in long strands. As someone who likes cheese, the portion felt generous to me.

I came because I was curious about the potato chips, but I was also satisfied with the burgers and chicken. They sell beer at the restaurant too, so next time I would like to come back for chicken and beer.
