Seomyeon fried chicken as a second-round drinking snack: Yetnal

In short

Yetnal Tongdak & Tang Seomyeon Branch is the Busan sister branch of a chicken restaurant already famous in Yeonsan-dong, located in Busanjin, Busan. Even full from a first-round shellfish barbecue meal, the writer ordered a half portion of old-style fried chicken and a pineapple sherbet fruit set alongside soju, finding the chicken's coating thin, crispy outside and moist inside. It made for a light, easygoing second-round pairing despite already being full.

From Yeonsan-dong to a second branch in Seomyeon

Yetnal Tongdak & Tang was already famous back when it was just the Hanchang Tower location in Yeonsan-dong — I'd known about it for a while. It became a word-of-mouth favorite for old-style fried chicken in Yeonsan-dong and drew huge crowds, so when I heard they'd opened a branch in Seomyeon too, I was thrilled and had to check it out. Since the original was so well known, I was curious whether the Seomyeon branch would taste the same. The moment I saw the Instagram reel announcing this second Busan location in Seomyeon, I wanted to go — and finally I made it happen >_<!!!!!

This Seomyeon fried chicken restaurant doesn't just serve old-style fried chicken — they also have dakdoritang, jjimdak, fried gizzards, and more, so there's a wide range depending on your mood: old-style chicken with a beer for something light, or dakdoritang/jjimdak for a heartier meal. It's great for sharing several dishes with friends, and works whether you're settling in for a first-round meal or a second-round drinking session. If you're looking for a good chicken or chicken-dish restaurant in Seomyeon, this one's worth a visit :)

Parking: use the nearby public lot

There's no dedicated parking lot, so you'll need to use a nearby public parking lot.

A menu with a fruit set, and chicken by the half

Besides dakdoritang, fried chicken, and old-style chicken, Yetnal Tongdak & Tang Seomyeon Branch also has a separate fruit set menu served alongside fruit. My friend loves fruit and picked the pineapple sherbet from the fruit set the moment she saw the menu, and since we'd already eaten shellfish barbecue as our first round and were pretty full, we went with a half order of the old-style fried chicken.

Basic side dishes: salad, pickled radish, shrimp chips

The basic side dishes are salad, pickled radish, and shrimp chips. Especially the mayo-ketchup salad that no chicken place should be without!!!!!! Picking at the salad and popping shrimp chips before the chicken arrives already feels like an extra drinking snack on its own.

So how was the old-style fried chicken?

I had Chamisul and my friend had Jinro, one bottle each, and while we were snacking on the basic sides, the fruit set from this Seomyeon fried chicken favorite, Yetnal Tongdak & Tang Seomyeon Branch, arrived before we knew it ᰔ. The chicken was true to its name — old-style fried chicken — with its own charm compared to today's franchise chicken. The coating had just the right thickness, keeping that crispy texture alive while staying light and clean, not greasy. Eating it fresh and warm, the outside was crispy and the inside stayed moist — delicious, as expected. A second branch in Seomyeon that's just as good as the Yeonsan-dong original! Even though it's only been open a short while, I could see exactly why people keep coming.

Pineapple sherbet — won't it be too heavy for round two?

The pineapple sherbet tasted just like the sherbet sold at ilbam-type drinking spots! Since this is a chicken-focused restaurant, some might worry it'd feel too heavy for a second round of drinks, but you really don't need to worry about that.

It's not just chicken here — there's also a light fruit set option, which made it a great pairing for round-two drinks. The refreshing fruit and crispy chicken went together better than I expected, and it was easy to enjoy even while already stuffed. My friend said it ranked in her top three chickens ever, so it was another satisfying meal all around.
