Seomyeon bar with pork skin chive pancake & jjapaghetti: Yuumangju

In short

Yuumangju Seomyeon Branch is a second-floor bar near Seomyeon Station in Busanjin, Busan, serving unusual drinking snacks. The order was pork skin chive pancake, jjapaghetti (instant black bean noodles) with kimchi, and aged-kimchi rice balls: the pancake was crisp outside and soft inside with the pork skin texture still there, and one jjapaghetti was plenty for two. With its black interior and a large number of seats, Yuumangju Seomyeon Branch works well for team dinners and group drinks.

Trying to decide where to go for a dinner get-together, I ended up at Yuumangju, a newly opened bar. It's easy to get to and has so many unusual dishes that I think it's about to become a Busan Seomyeon hotspot ~! The owner was friendly too, and the stylish vibe makes it good for all kinds of occasions, so let me introduce it in detail.

Where is Yuumangju Seomyeon Branch, and what are its hours?

You know how drinking goes down smoother when the lighting is a bit dim like this? Plus, the restroom was kept clean and comfortable, so I could drink at ease.

Yuumangju's menu and the free honey baguette

The menu ranges from dishes hearty enough to stand in for dinner to light side dishes for a second round, so it looked good for both a drinking session and just dinner. What I ordered was a hearty spread: pork skin chive pancake, jjapaghetti, and aged-kimchi rice balls :)

Crispy baguette drizzled with honey, the complimentary snack

The complimentary snack was a crispy baguette drizzled generously with honey — sweet enough to nibble on lightly.

Pork skin chive pancake: the dish to order at Yuumangju

The pork skin chive pancake at Yuumangju Seomyeon Branch was the dish I was most curious and excited about, and wow, it was genuinely delicious — I want to tell everyone to order it without question.

I was curious what kind of combination chive pancake and pork skin would make, and whoever came up with this dish clearly knows their flavors.

Large chunks of pork skin on top of the chive pancake

It was crispy outside and moist inside, and dipping it in the soy sauce went perfectly with it.

The pork skin pieces on top were nice and big, soft yet chewy, so the texture really stood out and made for great bites.

Chive pancake batter packed with chives

The batter wasn't too thick either, and it was packed with chives without holding back, making it a perfect match for soju. Mayonnaise and teriyaki sauce were drizzled generously on top of the pancake, giving it a slightly sweet touch — the balance was absolutely amazing.

Piled on top of the aged-kimchi rice balls I also ordered, it was a fantastic pairing, and I slurped it all up happily ~

Jjapaghetti with kimchi: one order feeds two

The jjapaghetti (black bean noodle dish) with kimchi at Yuumangju Seomyeon Branch is a combination that simply can't be bad, and it really got my appetite going ♡

The noodles were cooked to a nice springy texture, and the slice of cheese on top added a rich, deep flavor.

The savory, salty notes typical of jjajang-style ramyeon came together perfectly, making it an especially great choice as a drinking snack ~!

Especially with a crunchy, savory piece of kimchi piled on top, it was so good that I couldn't stop smiling the whole time I was eating.

A generous plate of jjapaghetti kimchi

Eating it with kimchi cut through any heaviness completely, and the portion was so huge that two people could easily share just one order ㅠㅠ

Aged-kimchi rice balls at Yuumangju Seomyeon Branch

I was torn between flying fish roe rice balls and aged-kimchi rice balls, but I went with the more unusual aged-kimchi rice balls ~!

The portion of aged-kimchi rice balls was bigger than I expected too — great to order if you feel like something's missing after one main dish. It went perfectly with spicy dishes, and the savory, crunchy aged kimchi was so good that I polished it off right away 〰️

Is Yuumangju Seomyeon Branch worth it? 💭

From its overwhelmingly huge size to its unusual dishes you don't see often, Yuumangju is a great spot to visit when you have a drinking get-together with a group. The space is so spacious that it's great to come with friends, and it seems set to become a new Busan Seomyeon hotspot. You can have a blast with friends here, and I'd also recommend it as a date spot 💗
