Jeonpo café in Busan for a matcha latte and corn cream bread: Hippy

In short

Hippy is a wood-toned café and dessert shop on Dongseong-ro 25beon-gil in Jeonpo-dong, Busanjin-gu, Busan. The signature matcha-frozen Hippy latte came with a regular matcha latte and a corn cream bread: the frozen matcha syrup in the signature drink made the flavour twice as deep, and the cream in the corn bread was exceptionally soft. With more non-coffee drinks and desserts than most places and cute candles sold on the side, Hippy is a Jeonpo café worth browsing as much as sitting in.

Today I want to introduce a Busanjin café with great vibes — Hippy!

Hippy is a café on Dongseong-ro 25beon-gil in Jeonpo-dong, Busanjin-gu — a place a friend recommended to me a while back as a Jeonpo café. Back then I was only told 'the coffee's good there,' but the vibe turned out to be really great too haha. So if you're looking for a good-vibe café in Jeonpo, this is one worth stopping by at least once!

What is the interior of Hippy like?

Both inside and out, Hippy is done in wood tones that won't get old, decorated cutely with a spoonful of sentiment haha. And the candles they sell alongside the drinks were so cute!!

Why we chose the corn cream bread: Hippy's dessert lineup

I'd heard Hippy's coffee was good, but turns out the desserts are a hit too?? There were so many kinds I spent a while agonizing over what to get lol. Every single pastry looked delicious, and the flavors were really varied. If I hadn't eaten beforehand I'd have easily gone for two cakes lol. The one that caught my eye was the corn one, so I went with corn!!!

And beyond that the desserts are super varied — pound cakes to cookies haha, all kinds prepared! Which is probably why almost no one seemed to be there for drinks alone lol. Looking around, sure enough, everyone had ordered a pastry along with their drink lol. And of course, one drink per person lol.

Matcha-frozen Hippy latte vs regular matcha latte: what's the difference?

Hippy's menu is mostly coffee, but there were quite a lot of non-coffee options too!!! Honestly it's been a while since I've seen a café with this much non-coffee variety?! I think it'd be the perfect café for anyone who loves sweet drinks~

I ordered the matcha-frozen Hippy latte, the signature menu of this Jeonpo café, along with a regular matcha latte haha. The difference: the regular matcha latte is your usual matcha latte, while the matcha-frozen Hippy latte is made with matcha syrup frozen inside!! So it's a drink with double the depth of flavor!!

How did the drinks and the corn cream bread taste?

When I ordered, they handed me a buzzer — and even the buzzer was too cute lol. The drink on the left is Hippy's signature drink, the one on the right is the matcha latte!! And the corn bread haha.

The corn bread was really soft, and the cream was genuinely so smooth. The corn was sliced nicely for easy eating, and I get why the signature drink is signature. It's kind of like an affogato-ish cream drink? but it feels like Hippy's own thing. I don't think I've seen green tea sold quite like this elsewhere lol — if you like green tea lattes, I'd recommend giving this one a try!!!

Once my stomach was somewhat full, I started noticing the interior~ The owner must really love cute things. There are cute things hanging all over the place lol. Even the framed art says Hippy.

Why Hippy's candles are worth buying on their own

Right up until I left, I kept thinking how cute the candles were!! Swap out just the candle on a birthday cake and the whole cake looks completely different~ For someone's birthday or anniversary, it'd be totally fine to just buy candles at Hippy!!! The prices are reasonable too, so I'd recommend it~
