Post-Wolmido evening bowl for two at Songdo restaurant: Eonyang Dak

In short

Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Incheon Songdo Branch is a chicken kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) restaurant on Haedoji-ro in Yeonsu, Incheon. After a long Sunday walk around Wolmido, a couple ordered Eonyang-style chicken kalguksu and chicken gomtang (rice soup) at ₩11,000 each, warming up with thick hand-cut noodles and a perilla-seed chicken broth. With 90 minutes of free underground parking and even a solo dining seat, it made for a satisfying meal on the way home from a day trip.

We ordered the chicken kalguksu and the chicken gomtang

Menu board listing Eonyang chicken kalguksu and braised chicken dishes

Besides the bestselling Eonyang chicken kalguksu, the menu includes chicken gomtang, Eonyang-style kalguksu, chewy mandu (dumplings), spicy braised chicken, soy-braised chicken, and boiled pork, along with extra items and drinks.

What is Eonyang chicken kalguksu, you ask? Apparently it's kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) made with a deeply simmered chicken bone broth and perilla seeds.

Our order was among the popular picks at this Songdo restaurant.

We decided on the chicken kalguksu made with noodles hand-cut and aged for 24 hours, paired with the chicken gomtang — a restorative meal combining deep perilla flavor with rich chicken broth.

Self-serve bar with pickled radish and spicy kimchi

There are two self-serve bars, one on each side of the hall, with pickled radish and kimchi — split into spicy and mild versions.

1. Eonyang chicken kalguksu (Eonyang-style kalguksu + half a chicken)

A combination of chicken bone broth, perilla powder, and half a chicken makes for a rich, standout flavor.

A bowl of Eonyang chicken kalguksu topped with half a chicken

My husband's number one pick, the Eonyang chicken kalguksu, is the bestseller here at the Songdo branch — you could really taste the chewy bite of the thick hand-cut noodles alongside the rich perilla-laced broth.

The tender chicken meat pairs with the soft perilla aroma for an even deeper flavor. My husband was too busy enjoying it to even properly chew the noodles, haha.

2. Chicken gomtang

Perilla chicken gomtang with half a chicken

My own top pick, the chicken gomtang, is loaded with half a chicken in a savory perilla-infused chicken broth with warm rice and chicken. It tasted like the perilla chicken gomtang my mom used to make back home — it had been a while since I'd had it.

Chicken gomtang topped with kimchi

Topping it with a bit of kimchi gives it that comforting, restorative flavor everyone loves. If you like it spicier and sharper, adding kimchi like a chili paste works even better.

Empty bowls after finishing the kalguksu and gomtang

It cooled off a bit today, but it's still warm out. After using up so much energy on our Wolmido day trip, seeing our empty bowls at this Songdo restaurant felt like we'd fully recovered our strength before heading home.

How about this for a meal on your way home from a day trip?

The table and store view after finishing the meal

Not just in midsummer — as summer fades and the breezy autumn approaches, Eonyang chicken kalguksu and chicken gomtang are great for restoring your energy.

Eonyang kalguksu is a classic Korean restorative dish, mild enough for anyone to enjoy, any season. These days it's so easy to have as a full meal that it works for

  • solo dining, of course,
  • and it's great that the whole family can easily enjoy a restorative meal together,
  • it's also perfect for a quick bowl on your way in or out of a day trip like we did,
  • and since there's a food market right across from Eonyang Kalguksu, you could even do your grocery shopping while you're at it,
  • the free parking is convenient too, and the store is spacious and clean, which is a plus.

We enjoyed the chicken kalguksu and chicken gomtang as a restorative meal, and I'd definitely recommend Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Incheon Songdo Branch, a great restaurant in Songdo, Incheon!
