Goyang Japanese restaurant salmon rice bowl lunch: Min Cook Dasima

In short

Min Cook Dasima is a Japanese restaurant in Goyang, Gyeonggi, with lunch-special sushi and salmon rice bowl set meals. I visited with my older sisters and loved the thick salmon, crisp fried items, and neatly arranged spread. Verdict: a satisfying choice for a group lunch, as long as you know the salmon set does not include steamed egg.

Today was the day we decided to go because a guest was appearing at Byeolmorae Theater in Goyang. Min Cook Dasima (민쿡다시마), a great spot near Hwajeong Station for a group lunch, was my pick.

It is famous as Goyang's first sushi restaurant. I visited for dinner last time and had the sushi set meal, but this day I tried the lunch special.

Visiting Min Cook Dasima for a lunch gathering

I was meeting my older sisters at 1, so I arrived around 12:35. There was a waiting-list board at the entrance.

The interior is spacious, and since it was just after the lunch rush, luckily there were seats when I arrived. We got a table for four.

There were bright, sunny window seats with tables for six and four. But I made a poor outfit choice today, so off I went to a shaded, darker seat. I nearly froze yesterday, so I wore long sleeves, and now I was sooo hot. I want to avoid the sun~ 🎵 🎶

When you eat lunch alone, you sometimes think, “What if I’m taking up a seat someone else could use?” At Min Cook Dasima, I love that there is no need to worry about that.

It is a Baeknyeon Gage (century-old store) and is run by someone appointed as a master of Japanese cuisine.

Looking at the photo, I cannot tell whether there were 10 pieces or 9. It comes with a plate of sushi, salad, Japanese-style steamed egg, three fried items, and miso soup.

Porridge arrives before the main dish. I loved its gentle flavor and warmth, which soothed my stomach.

I like Japanese-style steamed egg because it is not mushy. It sits somewhere between soft and slightly springy. My older sisters said it was delicious and each gave a bite to me, the one who ordered the salmon rice bowl set without steamed egg. Sharing like this is love.

The salad comes with grilled tomato, and the white dressing was refreshing.

The inari sushi, flounder, salmon, soy-marinated shrimp, and more 🍣 had incredibly fresh sashimi. It was sashimi carrying the scent of the sea.

My favorites were the red tuna sashimi and soy-marinated shrimp sushi.

There are three kinds of fried items. I started wondering what secret lets them fry things this crisply. The soup broth also made me want to mix rice into it.

The salmon rice bowl set meal includes one salmon rice bowl, salad, and fried items. Unlike the sushi set meal, it does not include steamed egg. That was a little disappointing. The salmon slices are so thick that even one bite feels filling, haha.

The cabbage in the salad was sliced unusually finely, so much so that I almost did not realize it was cabbage. It was totally my style, and my excitement exploded the way it does when I eat something delicious.

You can mix up the salmon rice bowl and top it with salmon, but it was also delicious to enjoy the salmon on its own with radish sprouts and sauce.

The crisp fried lotus root was moist inside and not greasy, which I liked.

A sip of miso soup was just right for cleansing the palate.

If you want a neatly arranged Japanese sushi set meal with lots of little details, how about Min Cook Dasima? The lunch-special menu is substantial, well priced, and set in a nice atmosphere, making it a great place for a gathering. My older sisters were happy and said it was delicious, so my restaurant recommendation was a success again today ❤️
