We went to Suji Library with the kids over the weekend~ Between reading books and looking around, lunchtime snuck up on us.

One kid loves noodles, another loves donkatsu (pork cutlet), so instead of a place with just one menu item, we needed somewhere with a bit of everything. That's how we ended up at Myeonsikdang Suji Government Office branch, a well-known spot near Sujigucheong Station.

They sell not just ramen but rice noodles, katsu, and rice bowls too, so I figured it'd work well for a family meal out. After actually visiting and trying the menu, I could see why it's good for kids and why there's a wait 😉😉

What's the seating like inside?

Walking in, the interior felt clean and tidy overall. There are 2-person and 4-person tables, so it works well whether you're eating alone or with family. The 4-person tables meant it wasn't cramped at all sitting with the kids.

The menu at Myeonsikdang Suji Government Office branch

The menu at Myeonsikdang Suji Government Office branch is varied, which is great for family meals out~~ Plenty of options to choose from!! 👍🏻👍🏻 I went in thinking only of ramen, but being able to order rice noodles and donkatsu too meant everyone in the family could pick what they actually wanted!

What we ordered that day

  • Tonkotsu ramen ₩8,400
  • Shabu rice noodles ₩8,900
  • Mozza cheese katsu ₩12,500
  • Hire katsu half ₩4,900

Full spread of the four ordered dishes

That day we ordered tonkotsu ramen, shabu rice noodles, mozza cheese katsu, and hire katsu half. Ordering noodle dishes together with katsu made the table look really full and generous. Especially when eating with kids, one dish alone sometimes doesn't match everyone's taste, so being able to pick different dishes and share was great!

Rich and savory tonkotsu ramen

First we tried the tonkotsu ramen. As you can see in the photo, it's topped with bean sprouts, green onion, chashu (braised pork), a soft-boiled egg, and seaweed, so it looked delicious just from the visual ♡

We tasted the broth first — it had that distinct rich tonkotsu character without being overwhelming. The noodles paired well with the broth, and the chashu and bean sprouts added a nice change in texture.

The kids love noodles, so they ate more than I expected. If you're visiting as a family, instead of ordering one ramen to share, it might work better to add a noodle refill based on how much the kids eat. (We added one just in case it wasn't enough, and it turned out plenty filling.)

Clean and refreshing shabu rice noodles

The shabu rice noodles were also popular, so we tried them, and they were a completely different vibe from the tonkotsu ramen.

The clear broth was loaded with bean sprouts, onion, chives, and plenty of thin-sliced meat. Lifting the noodles with chopsticks, the rice noodle portion was seriously generous~💕💕 The broth felt lighter and cleaner than the ramen, so it'll suit anyone who prefers a refreshing broth over a rich one!

The kids' favorite: mozza cheese katsu

The dish the kids reacted to the most was definitely the mozza cheese katsu! Cutting into the cutlet revealed plenty of cheese inside~~ Crispy on the outside, with tender meat and cheese together on the inside — exactly the kind of combo kids love ♡♡

Cutting it while it's still hot makes the cheese stretch nicely, which also makes for great photos. It's good dipped in katsu sauce or eaten plain to enjoy the cheese's savory flavor on its own — good good!! If you're looking for a spot near Sujigucheong Station where you can have both noodles and donkatsu with kids, highly recommend!

Also ordered: hire katsu half

Hire katsu half ordered as a side dish

Wanting to try one more katsu, we added the hire katsu half for ₩4,900. Unlike the mozza cheese katsu, it has no cheese, so it was good for comparing the flavor of the meat itself. The half size wasn't overwhelming, so it worked well alongside the other dishes. If ramen or rice noodles alone feel like they're not quite enough, add this as a side and share it~~😉😉

Why it worked for both family meals and solo dining

The biggest advantage I noticed after visiting in person was the range of menu options. When eating out with kids, it's hard for everyone in the family to like the same dish. But Myeonsikdang Suji Government Office branch has enough variety — ramen, rice noodles, katsu — that everyone can pick what they want, and the taste exceeded expectations all around 👍🏻👍🏻 The seating setup also isn't awkward for solo diners, so it's a good option if you're looking for a solo dining spot near Sujigucheong Station!

There's a table-ordering system too, so you can take your time looking over the menu before ordering! The solo seats even have chargers set up, which students would love~ There's also a receipt event you can join for a free drink~
