Wood-fired pizza restaurant in Yongin with a baby: Pig Mie-eul

In short

Pig Mie-eul is a wood-fired pizza and steak restaurant tucked deep inside Gogi-ri in Suji-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi. On a rainy day the writer booked ahead, sat at a window table with her baby and shared gorgonzola pizza, striploin steak, a salmon appetizer, pre-meal juice and bread, all of which the baby ate happily. With its own parking lot, baby chairs and roomy first and second floors, Pig Mie-eul was an easy choice for eating out with a baby.

Pig Mie-eul, Yongin: a pizza and steak stop with a baby on the way to Gogi-ri valley

Pig Mie-eul is a wood-fired pizza and steak restaurant tucked inside Gogi-ri, Yongin. We stopped by while heading to the valley in Gogi-ri with our baby. I'd found it while looking up good restaurants in Gogi-ri, and the photos looked like such a nice atmosphere that I'd wanted to visit for a while. The parking lot was roomier than expected, which was great, and the restaurant has 1st and 2nd floors, so overall it felt spacious.

The atmosphere was the first thing I loved about Pig Mie-eul. As you head deeper into Gogi-ri, you start to wonder — is there really a restaurant back here? — but once inside, the vibe was really nice. It was raining that day so I couldn't get separate shots of the exterior and the parking lot, sorry about that.

Overall it felt calm and upscale, but not so formal that it was uncomfortable to eat with a baby. Best of all, there were lots of little decor pieces and things to look at, so our baby didn't get bored at all. We'd made a reservation, so we were shown to a window seat!

While waiting for the food, our baby watched the fish tank haha. I think she said she'd caught fish at the valley before.

We ordered the gorgonzola pizza and the striploin steak. From reviews of Pig Mie-eul, it seems the jambon-beurre pizza is famous. Unfortunately it was sold out that day! I was really curious about it and was bummed to miss it — but that just gave me a reason to come back!!

The salmon appetizer chosen through the Naver review event

They said writing a Naver review gets you a drink or coffee, but maybe just for that day, they said we could pick an appetizer instead — so I chose the salmon appetizer!

Eating it before the meal, it was fresh and crisp, and the sauce paired well — it really got my appetite going.

They also serve a pre-meal juice, and our baby drank it right up haha.

Pre-meal bread is served too. It was tasty, so our baby ate it right up too haha. When a restaurant is one our baby eats well at, I always want to come back — maybe that's just a mom thing (?)

Wood-fired gorgonzola pizza at Pig Mie-eul, down to the crust ends

Pig Mie-eul's gorgonzola pizza was a bit different from the gorgonzola I usually eat. I ordered it a little reluctantly since the jambon-beurre was sold out, haha, but it turned out to be more delicious than expected. Regular gorgonzola pizza often tastes like just one dominant cheese flavor, but here the cheese flavor felt much more layered — like several good cheeses were used. The cheese didn't even harden.

It was bigger than I expected — I was surprised!! And I'm pretty picky about taste, haha — I normally never eat the crust ends of pizza. But the fact that I finished this one says a lot about how good this wood-fired pizza really is. Even my husband, who's just as picky as me, finished his 🤣

Striploin steak at Pig Mie-eul: was the price worth it?

We also ordered the striploin steak. The pasta looked good too and I was torn, but since we had a baby to feed protein to, we added a meat dish. I hesitated at first because of the price, but after tasting it, it made sense.

It was much more tender than expected, and cooked just right! The garnish was tasty too, so even our baby, who isn't big on vegetables, ate it all.

The atmosphere was nice and eating slowly made the meal feel different from our usual meals at home — more relaxed. The plating was so pretty too.

Table with pizza and steak together

Partway through, we ordered a zero-sugar cola haha. You gotta have soda with Western food.

Is Pig Mie-eul easy to visit with a baby?

The 2nd floor turned out to be a lot bigger than I expected?! I took a photo on the way to the bathroom. The bathroom was really clean and spacious too.

These days, whether I can bring my baby along is the most important thing when picking a restaurant. The atmosphere was great, the staff were kind, and it was a comfortable place to visit with a baby, so if you're looking for a good-atmosphere Italian restaurant or a good restaurant in Gogi-ri, Pig Mie-eul is worth a try. I'm planning to go back for the jambon-beurre pizza next time 🥰
