I visited a brand-new spot in Baekseok-dong, Cheonan — Yukdaejang Cheonan Baekseok Branch — with my family.💛 My husband, my kid, and I hadn't been out to eat together in a while, and it was a great, satisfying meal. The moment we walked in, the clean and pleasant interior of a freshly opened restaurant caught my eye first.

Yukdaejang Cheonan Baekseok Branch is open 10:00–21:00, with last order at 20:30. Cleanliness really matters when you're dining out with a young kid, and everything from the entrance to the tables was spotless, which put me in a good mood before the food even arrived.

That day we ordered two things: cha-dol yukgaejang (with added fresh noodles) and yangji seolleongtang. I wasn't sure if two dishes would be enough for three people, but the portions were so generous that we all ended up completely full.

Yangji seolleongtang: deep, rich broth even a child finished

For my kid's dish, we picked yangji seolleongtang (₩11,000). The moment it arrived, I was surprised by the generous amount of meat and glass noodles. My kid loves glass noodles, and there was plenty, so the chopsticks kept moving and the bowl disappeared happily.

Above all, the broth stood out. It wasn't too salty or heavy-handed — quite mild, actually — but the stock itself was clearly simmered long and deep, giving it a clean yet rich savoriness. It's a perfect dish for kids, for anyone who prefers a healthier flavor, or for anyone looking for a light soup for breakfast or lunch.

Cha-dol yukgaejang with fresh noodles: scallions and brisket together

My husband and I are both yukgaejang fans, so cha-dol yukgaejang (₩14,000) was our obvious pick. Personally, I think the soul of yukgaejang lies in well-cooked scallions, and this bowl was loaded with sweet, refreshing scallions that really brought out the deep flavor.

On top of that, there was plenty of savory beef brisket, so every sip of broth got a little gasp out of me. We added fresh noodles (₩2,000), and the chewy noodles soaked up the rich, spicy yukgaejang broth beautifully — an amazing combination. Piling meat, scallions, and noodles together into one big bite filled my mouth with spicy, savory flavor. After finishing the noodles, mixing in rice made for a truly perfect meal.

Side dishes and the self-serve bar at Yukdaejang Cheonan Baekseok Branch

Another highlight of Yukdaejang Cheonan Baekseok Branch is the basic side dishes. Once you sit down, they set out stir-fried fish cake, seasoned chives, and seokbakji (radish kimchi) — and every single one was delicious, to the point I thought, 'this place is a side dish restaurant too!'

In particular, the crunchy, just-right seokbakji paired perfectly with the rich soups, and the seasoned chives were great as a topping for either the yukgaejang or the seolleongtang. My husband and my kid kept reaching for more.

If you run low, you can help yourself to more at the self-serve bar — and it was impeccably kept. Self-serve bars used by lots of people can easily get messy with spilled sauce, but this one was spotless, without a speck of dust, and it was clear a lot of care went into hygiene.
