Colkage-free daechang revisit near Dangsan Station: Chodaechang

In short

Chodaechang Dangsan Station is a grilled beef intestines (daechang) restaurant on the 2nd floor, a 3-minute walk from Dangsan Station in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. The writer, who fell in love with daechang here on a first visit, came back with a friend for 3 servings of daechang and doenjang sulbap, grilled tableside by staff. With corkage-free policy and a free extra bottle for Naver reservations, it's a great pick for bringing your own drinks.

Hello!! It's Sumni, back after a while haha. Today I'm writing about my visit to Chodaechang Dangsan, a restaurant and bar near Dangsan Station. I actually already wrote about my last visit here, but it was so good I had to come back haha.

Last time was my first time ever eating daechang (grilled beef intestines), and I got totally hooked afterward, so I came back again! Daechang can be hard to eat if it smells, but this place is so savory and delicious that I kept thinking about it. ㅠㅠ Okay, let's get right into the review haha.

A great spot for dinner after the Han River Park

It's close to Han River Park too, so I'd recommend stopping here for dinner after a river visit haha. Last time I ate daechang here and then walked along the Han River! Eating till full and then strolling by the river just felt so good. Being near the river is definitely a plus.

3-minute walk from Dangsan Station, 2nd floor elevator

Chodaechang Dangsan is about a 3-minute walk from Dangsan Station. There's an elevator too, so I rode it up comfortably. Oh, and I noticed it has a Blue Ribbon award. Places with the Blue Ribbon have almost always been delicious in my experience, so you can visit with confidence haha.

Corkage-free, plus one more bottle with a Naver reservation

Oh, and the best thing about Chodaechang Dangsan is that it's corkage-free. If you reserve through Naver, you get one more bottle free, so up to two bottles total are free — worth bringing your own drinks if you plan ahead. There aren't many places with corkage-free these days, so this is really great haha.

We also booked through Naver, and everything was already set up when we arrived like this. There can be a wait during peak hours, so I really recommend reserving before you visit.

What are the banchan (side dishes) like?

Here are the banchan (side dishes) — that soy sauce dip is a really generous size. When it starts feeling a bit greasy, adding a slice of cheongyang chili and eating it just keeps you going. And that lettuce salad was really good too. The geotjeori (fresh kimchi) was refreshing and spicy in a good way.

There was also a salad mixed with crab stick and corn. And the side dish on the right was some kind of namul (seasoned vegetables) with a tangy flavor, which was really nice.

3 servings of daechang for two, grilled for us

We ordered 3 servings of daechang for the two of us. The daechang really came out plump. And the staff grilled it for us directly, so we could enjoy it without any effort.

Doenjang sulbap while we waited

Oh, and while it was still grilling, we ordered doenjang sulbap (soybean paste rice) to fill up first — first time trying it, and it was really delicious. If you visit, I definitely recommend ordering it. Oh, by the way, it seems you get doenjang sulbap free for writing a review, but that seems to only apply to people who booked through Naver reservation, so make sure to reserve before visiting haha.

How does the charcoal-grilled daechang taste?

Ta-da~!! It finally finished grilling and I tried it! It had that charcoal smoky flavor soaked in, and it was so delicious haha. I really love food with that charcoal aroma, so I enjoyed it even more because of that. Even fully grilled, the daechang stayed plump, and when I bit in, the texture was amazing — chewy with that satisfying pop inside haha.

Eating the well-grilled daechang with a cheongyang chili on top made it perfectly balanced and not greasy at all haha. If you love daechang, I strongly recommend Chodaechang Dangsan Station as your go-to restaurant and bar near Dangsan Station haha.
