Today I went with my sister for dinner to Jeju Seobine Haejangguk, Manchon Direct Branch, a well-known restaurant in Manchon-dong, Suseong, Daegu.
Parking and the atmosphere inside
Parking is always one of the things I worry about most when visiting a restaurant, but there's a very spacious dedicated parking lot right in front of the store, so I could park with zero stress and just walk in. The location is a bit awkward to reach by public transit, so it's much more convenient to come by car.
The interior was clean and well kept overall, and the tables were spaced generously apart, so everyone was clearly eating in a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere.

Tablet ordering and self-serve banchan
Ordering is easy with the tablet at every table. Today we ordered the Jeju jumbo tonkatsu and a hot bowl of intestine soup — I went with the tonkatsu, my sister ordered the intestine soup, and we planned to share both.

There's a neat self-serve bar on one side of the restaurant where you can freely refill any banchan (side dishes) that run low during the meal. Among the side dishes, the cucumber peppers really stood out — not spicy at all, with a crisp bite and a cool juice that came out with every chew, so I kept reaching for more. The diced radish kimchi (kkakdugi) also had a great texture, not too hard, with the seasoning well soaked in — a great side dish that cleanses the palate whether paired with the spicy soup or the somewhat greasy tonkatsu.

How was the intestine soup
My sister's intestine soup arrived bubbling away in a stone pot. Looking inside, it was generously packed with chewy intestine pieces, along with glass noodles and bean sprouts.

The broth wasn't heavy or overly harsh — it was clean and refreshing, exactly the kind of thing you'd want to settle your stomach. There was no trace of the off-smell intestine can sometimes have; it was a well-composed, clean-style broth she could finish comfortably without hesitation. It's the kind of dish that's perfect on a cold day or whenever you want something warm and filling.

Jeju jumbo tonkatsu, the hidden hit at a hangover soup restaurant
The moment my Jeju jumbo tonkatsu landed on the table, it clearly lived up to its name. The sheer size and generous portion — filling the entire large plate — caught my eye first. The batter wasn't soggy and stayed crisp all the way through, and inside was packed with thick meat that was genuinely satisfying to chew. The sauce wasn't overly sweet or sour either, and paired well with the meat. Funnily enough, looking around the restaurant, most of the other customers — solo guys and groups of men alike — were ordering this jumbo tonkatsu instead of the hangover soup. Even though the sign says it's a hangover soup specialist, I couldn't help but think this place is secretly a proven tonkatsu spot among those in the know. Thanks to the generous portion and the crowd-pleasing flavor, I finished the whole plate without ever getting tired of it.

In summary
We finished off with a yogurt dessert to cleanse the palate before heading home. The food at Jeju Seobine Haejangguk, Manchon Direct Branch, this well-known spot in Manchon-dong, isn't especially bold or intense in flavor — rather, it's the kind of clean, well-balanced taste that anyone can enjoy without complaint. That's exactly why it feels like the kind of place you could eat at every day without ever getting tired of it — somewhere you can stop by casually, any time.
