Nasi goreng and 1.5x chicken curry oepnrun at Rama & Bavana, Suseong
In short
Rama & Bavana Suseong Lake Branch is an Indian fusion restaurant in Suseong, Daegu, running since 2004. Arriving right at opening, the writer ordered the signature nasi goreng, chicken curry at 1.5x spice (₩5,000 extra), tandoori cream chicken, butter garlic naan and mango lassi while looking out over Suseong Lake through floor-to-ceiling windows. For spice lovers who also want a lake view, this is the answer.

Great Suseong Lake view~ and Rama & Bavana (RAMA & BAVANA) is famous as a curry hotspot. I got there early to take a stroll and did a leisurely oepnrun — early arrival at opening (?^^). 🍛

What is Rama & Bavana Suseong Lake Branch?
Since 2004: a 20-year-old Indian restaurant, where the owner personally cooks the Indian fusion dishes.
Hours and amenities
- Tuesday–Sunday 11:30–21:20
- Break time 15:00–16:30 / last order 20:30
- Closed every Monday (✔️closed Sep 25 for Chuseok)
- Group-friendly, reservations, separate men's/women's restrooms, Wi-Fi 🛜, high chairs
Parking 🅿️: there's a dedicated lot behind the building. 🚙
Waiting area: located on the 2nd floor of the building, with a separate waiting area so you can wait inside even if there's a line.

What did I order?
Table order: you can easily order from the tablet mounted at each table. 🍛 I ordered one of the signature dishes, nasi goreng, spicy chicken curry at 1.5x (₩5,000 extra), tandoori cream chicken, butter garlic naan, and mango lassi. 🥭

✔️Right after ordering on the tablet, they immediately bring cold water. 🫙
I'd read reviews about there usually being a wait, so I came with time to spare, and arrived right at opening — but about 3 groups were already seated?!! Oh, I was relieved I'd come early. Haha.
Mango lassi
The mango lassi came out first. Rather than a typical 'lassi,' it feels more like a mango yogurt. 🥭🥭🥭 With mango bits to chew on, it's great for cooling down after something spicy!
Best-seller nasi goreng
✔️Best nasi goreng: seafood fried rice wrapped in naan. There's cheese inside, so you also get that stretchy cheese-pull moment.

Such a cute presentation with a generous amount of baby octopus in the seafood fried rice! I thought it was a really substantial dish~^_^ Plenty for two adults to share.
I scooped some onto my plate, and haha, every spoonful had a little octopus saying hello~🐙 The seasoning was just right, and I get why it's a popular dish.

After I cut into the nasi goreng and had a spoonful, all the other dishes arrived, so I took a group shot. 📸

How much curry do you get at 1.5x?
✔️Chicken curry🌶️🌶️🌶️ at 1.5x is the large size, which you can order for ₩5,000 extra. (It comes in two curry bowls.^^)
So many plump pieces of chicken in the curry. I ate and ate and there was still more chicken — I was practically apologizing to it, ha~♡
If you like spicy food, this is the place to gather. It's more of a Korean-leaning flavor than authentic Indian curry.

Tandoori cream chicken
✔️Tandoori cream chicken: it reminded me of Goobne Chicken... I like clean, lean breast meat so I was very happy with it. Not authentic tandoori chicken, but a unique dish I'd order again on a repeat visit.

Dipping the crisply grilled chicken into the accompanying sauce was tasty, and it also went well alongside the spicy chicken curry.

Butter garlic naan
✔️Butter garlic naan: the naan itself is chewy~ so delicious I completely inhaled it. Loaded up with chicken curry, the buttery savoriness and the sweet, sharp garlic flavor doubled up and worked so well together. So good~~~!
Suseong Lake view through the picture window and the interior vibe
Interior: with its warm wood and creamy white interior, softly lit for atmosphere, it looked like a fine date spot too.
The floor-to-ceiling window view of Suseong Lake in full view kept the space feeling fresh the whole time.
With a variety of seating and table setups, it can be used for group gatherings or a date depending on the occasion.

I'd recommend it as a Suseong Lake-view spot with a great interior too.

Restrooms
Men's/women's restrooms 🚻: go in past the mirror area and you'll find the restrooms. They're set apart from the tables, which made it easy to keep things discreet.
✔️Good water pressure, and plenty of paper towels for drying hands were stocked, so it was very pleasant to use. Whether it's a café or a restaurant, restrooms matter a lot to me, so I really appreciate a place that keeps them this well maintained.

Open kitchen and country-of-origin labeling
Open kitchen: a cleanly maintained open kitchen where an experienced chef cooks each dish fresh to order, generously using healthy ingredients while cutting back on unnecessary oil, so they say they serve Indian food that anyone, young or old, can enjoy without worry.

Country-of-origin labeling: with transparent origin labeling, you can eat with peace of mind.
✔️Naver receipt review: leave a photo review and enjoy an extra treat with a free order of french fries or a daily salad.

Service and entrance
Daegu Friendly Travel Shop: it's a Suseong Lake restaurant recognized for excellent customer service, and I was genuinely moved by how kind the staff were. ✔️They stayed attentive to guests at every moment, and whenever it seemed like we needed help, someone was right there to take care of it~👍👍
Entrance: there's a tidy waiting area, a signboard with the operating hours, and an umbrella stand. The building has no elevator, but since it's on the 2nd floor, it wasn't much trouble to get up there.
How about enjoying fusion Indian food while taking in a full view of Suseong Lake~
