Gangnam tonkatsu restaurant for dining with a toddler: Sioldon

In short

Sioldon Ilwon Branch is a Japanese-style tonkatsu restaurant in Gangnam, Seoul, near Samsung Medical Center. After an outpatient appointment, we shared the assorted cutlet set meal, a cold soba value set, and tenderloin tonkatsu with our 19-month-old. Verdict: a comfortable nearby choice for a meal with a baby after an appointment.

After finishing an outpatient appointment at Samsung Medical Center, we went for an early dinner with our 19-month-old. We were so hungry once the appointment was over, so while looking for a good restaurant near Samsung Medical Center, we found Sioldon Ilwon Branch, a tonkatsu place serving our family's favorite food.

Visiting Sioldon Ilwon Branch near Samsung Medical Center

It wasn't far from Samsung Medical Center, so it looked like a good place to eat with a baby after an appointment, and we decided to give it a visit.

A convenient location and parking after an outpatient appointment at Samsung Medical Center

Sioldon Ilwon Branch is near Samsung Medical Center, making it conveniently located for anyone looking for somewhere to eat after an outpatient appointment. There is parking in front of the restaurant, but it only fits about two cars, so the space is fairly limited.

If you're visiting after an outpatient appointment at Samsung Medical Center like we were, parking at the hospital and walking over could be a good option. Since we tend to get around by car with the baby, we checked whether parking was available before visiting, but do keep in mind that the spaces in front of the restaurant aren't plentiful.

A restaurant setting for solo diners and family meals alike

The interior was clean overall, and there was a greater variety of seating than I expected. There were counter seats that looked good for dining alone as well as tables for families, so it seemed comfortable for everything from a solo meal to a family outing.

We visited with our 19-month-old, and the table spacing and overall atmosphere didn't feel overwhelming, so it was nice for a meal with a baby too. When eating out with a baby, the food matters, of course, but I also look at whether the restaurant is too cramped or busy. In that regard, this was a good spot as well.

We ordered the assorted cutlet set meal and the Sioldon value set. The Sioldon value set comes with cold memil (buckwheat noodles) and one piece of tonkatsu, so it was a good choice when we wanted both tonkatsu and cold memil. Since our 19-month-old would be eating with us too, we ordered tenderloin tonkatsu.

I cut the tonkatsu into small pieces for the baby, and they ate it much better than I expected. The tenderloin tonkatsu was really soft, so it wasn't difficult for the baby to eat. After one bite, they kept asking for more, so we all enjoyed it too, haha.

When eating out with a baby, it's a little disappointing if there isn't something the baby can eat, no matter how delicious the food is. That day, it was nice that we could share the tonkatsu. The tenderloin in particular wasn't tough and was on the soft side, so I think it would be a good choice if you're visiting with a baby.

My visit with a baby after an outpatient appointment

After an outpatient appointment at Samsung Medical Center, it can be hard to decide where to eat with a baby, but this time we had tonkatsu somewhere nearby. The restaurant was clean, there was a variety of seating, and above all, we were happy that the baby enjoyed the tenderloin tonkatsu. If you're looking for somewhere to eat with a baby near Samsung Medical Center, Sioldon Ilwon Branch could be worth stopping by.

We found this place in a rush because we were hungry after the appointment, but we ended up having a more comfortable meal with the baby than expected. I think we'll visit again the next time we have an outpatient appointment at Samsung Medical Center 😍
