After a satisfying meal, I always start craving something to freshen up that heavy feeling in my mouth. I needed a sweet, cool finish, so I went looking for a great gelato dessert spot near Seolleung Station.
Scoopy between Seolleung and Hanti stations
Scoopy (스쿠피) in Seolleung is located in the direction of Exit 2 of Seolleung Station and Exit 2 of Hanti Station.

The shop has floor-to-ceiling glass windows, so its cute interior is completely visible from outside.

As you walk down the alley, your eyes naturally land on the adorable logo of a penguin holding gelato, along with the tempting gelato photos.

As I was about to open the door, a poster on the glass caught my eye. It was for something called the Oat Crunch Cup: you choose a Scoopy handmade ice cream flavor, then it comes with Korean Grade 1 milk poured over it and topped with granola and five-grain flakes. I thought it would make an excellent busy-morning option or light lunch substitute, too.

A gelato lineup that changes daily
Once inside, the first thing that caught my attention was, without question, the colorful gelato filling the display case. The lineup is not fixed; it changes a little every day and is announced accordingly. There is the fun of checking that day's flavors, and each visit makes you wonder, “What new flavor will there be today?”
There were all sorts of mouthwatering flavors just from the names alone: Namhae mugwort, apple mango, mint chocolate, Sicilian pistachio, brown Earl Grey, Oreo and cream, and more. What stood out especially was the color of the gelato. Fruit flavors and mint chocolate are often made in artificially vivid colors for visual impact, but Scoopy's gelato had gentle, natural-looking tones overall. You could immediately feel that the original colors of the natural ingredients had been preserved.

That makes sense, because on one side of the shop, a neatly framed notice explained the owner's philosophy. They make the base themselves with fresh Korean milk and continually work to create deep flavor and a chewy texture while using less sugar, so the sweetness does not stand out on its own. It made me sure this was a place aiming for real gelato densely packed with the inherent flavors of its ingredients—not merely a sweet gelato dessert near Seolleung Station.

Sizes and takeout options
Gelato comes as a Single Scoopy (120g), Double Scoopy (180g), or Triple Scoopy (240g), and there are crisp handmade waffle cones, too. Beyond gelato, the drink menu includes cold brew affogato, British Earl Grey, peppermint, Kyoto Uji matcha, and cold brew coffee.

For cups, actual containers from single through family size were lined up on display. It can be hard to picture a size from grams alone, but seeing the empty cups in person made ordering much easier. There are also well-organized takeout-only menus with one to four flavors, and insulated packing is available, making this a perfect pick for bringing snacks to a nearby friend's home or the office.

We each wanted to enjoy the flavor we chose properly, so we ordered two Single Scoopies. In addition to the main flavor, they added a spoonful of a tasting flavor, so we got to enjoy two flavors each.

Gelato dessert shops that focus mainly on takeout often do not have much of anywhere to sit, so you end up eating on the street or leaving right away. Scoopy near Seolleung Station, though, had a layout that was much nicer for sitting down and lingering than I expected.

The mint chocolate and apple mango pairing
My husband chose mint chocolate as his main flavor and apple mango as his tasting bite.

He said that the moment it hit his mouth, mango's signature bright, sweet juicy aroma burst out! Rather than an artificial syrupy sweetness, it had the sticky, concentrated sweetness of cold, perfectly ripe mango flesh packed together. If you love fruit-based desserts, this is a flavor you simply cannot go wrong with.

Instead of the fluorescent mint green you often see in mint chocolate, it was closer to a soft pastel shade. The refreshing mint base cleared the palate, while generously sized chocolate chunks were dotted throughout and gave it such a nice crunch :) The chocolate had deep flavor rather than a cheap sweetness, creating a perfect balance with the cool mint.

Sicilian pistachio and Haenam mugwort
I had Sicilian pistachio as my main flavor, topped with Haenam mugwort as my tasting bite.

The Haenam mugwort had a wonderfully strong mugwort aroma, with its distinctive fragrance and slight bitterness coming through pleasantly.

The Sicilian pistachio was not overly sweet, and its subtle, refined nutty flavor lingered in my mouth. The smooth flavor of milk blended with the clean simplicity of pistachio itself, making it an appealing flavor that never became cloying and kept drawing me back. The texture was also excellent: densely aerated so it was soft, yet with a satisfyingly chewy stretch when lifted with a spoon.
