Visiting Sioldon Ilwon Branch in Irwon-dong
From tenderloin at the peak of tenderness to limited-quantity premium loin, this is the ultimate tonkatsu mecca where you can meet life-changing cutlets that surpass even Japan itself. Roar~~~
Sioldon Ilwon Branch

Wandering around in search of great food. Today, I visited Sioldon Ilwon Branch (시올돈 일원점), a standout restaurant near Samsung Medical Center that has won over patients, caregivers, and local residents alike with its blazing passion to make tonkatsu even better than the real thing in Japan!

I arrived right at the lunch rush, and the place was already packed with diners. Just a little later and I would have been waiting right away~~ Packed lunch boxes were lined up across the bar table, too.

With a whopping ₩2,000 discount on takeout orders, it was immediately clear why this truly popular Samsung Medical Center tonkatsu spot draws a nonstop stream of takeout customers as well as dine-in guests.
What is on the menu at Sioldon Ilwon Branch?

The smart kiosk by the entrance lays out Sioldon’s heartfelt menu lineup all at once!

The loin cutlet set (₩12,000) highlights the clean, nutty meat flavor distinctive to Korean pork loin through 72-hour aging and nuruk-salt curing. The tenderloin cutlet set (₩13,000) is a signature meal full of bright pink juices and so tender you barely need teeth!

The premium loin cutlet set (₩14,000) is a limited-quantity dish featuring a prized cut with pork neck meat attached, yielding only four servings from one loin; it boasts rich juices and a satisfying chew. The cheese cutlet set (₩12,500) is stuffed generously with nutty mozzarella, while the assorted cutlet set (₩17,000) is a generous combination for enjoying loin and tenderloin together! For katsudon and nabe dishes, there is tenderloin katsudon (₩12,000) topped with crisp tenderloin, plus spicy, savory kimchi katsu nabe (₩13,000). They also have rice-devouring mini curry (₩3,500) and extra à la carte cutlets—completely stocked!

Every set meal comes neatly arranged with freshly milled Samgwang rice, deep and savory soup, and fresh cabbage salad.
Thoughtful details in the aging fridge and self-service bar

While looking around inside, the thing that completely grabbed my attention was the meat-aging refrigerator glowing softly with red light! Vacuum-packed Dodram and Sunjin Pork cuts were displayed proudly so diners could see the 72-hour cross-aging process for themselves. You could really feel their immense pride in their meat.

And I was totally impressed by the self-service bar! Hair ties for tying your hair back and eating comfortably, disposable mouthwash for a refreshing finish, and toothpicks were all perfectly prepared.

The open kitchen lets you see just how clean it is, so there is no need to worry about hygiene. This is a great Irwon-dong tonkatsu specialist with clear evidence that it has considered even the smallest details from the customer’s perspective.

Another strength of Sioldon is its cook-to-order system, so you can enjoy everything clean and hot.
Trying the loin, tenderloin, premium loin, and assorted cutlets
To taste Sioldon’s appeal all the way through, we ordered the loin cutlet set, tenderloin cutlet set, premium loin cutlet set, and assorted cutlet set! Fried to order, they arrived about 15 minutes later in beautifully golden, glowing form.

Seeing the pink salt, fresh wasabi, mustard, and house tonkatsu sauce that came on the tray, I got playful and made a cute bear-face sauce plating on my plate, hahaha! Salt for the face, mustard for the ears, and little dots of tonkatsu sauce for the eyes, nose, and mouth—so adorable, right? 🐻

Limited-quantity premium loin cutlet
The premium loin cutlet set has pork neck meat attached, and the balance of savory fat and clean lean meat is pure art! Chewy yet filled with juices that melt away in your mouth, it made me understand instantly why it is available only in limited quantities.

Tenderloin cutlet that disappears in your mouth
The moment you bite into the tenderloin cutlet set’s rosy-pink cross section—it is myoglobin, so dig in without worry!—you cannot help but gasp. Cured with nuruk salt, it bursts with umami rather than simple saltiness, and I am only exaggerating a little when I say it disappeared in my mouth before I even chewed!

Crisp loin and assorted cutlets
The loin cutlet set and assorted cutlet set stayed clean and nutty to the last bite, never greasy, thanks to their thin, crisp breadcrumb coating and clean oil refined twice a day. Piled over sticky rice milled that very day, they made us polish off a whole bowl of rice in no time. This was the true essence of excellent Irwon-dong tonkatsu!
Final thoughts on Sioldon Ilwon Branch

From selecting top-quality meat to 72-hour cross-aging, nuruk-salt curing, and meticulous clean-oil management—this was perfect flavor made through uncompromising dedication! It is a Samsung Medical Center favorite with Japan-level quality, moving in every way, and equally great for a filling lunch, dining solo, or a family meal. If you love tonkatsu, this is an essential stop that Oheungie recommends 200%—roar!
