Dongtan family Korean BBQ with wild garlic leaf: Gogigaondang
In short
Gogigaondang Dongtan Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant near Gaenari Park in Bansong-dong, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi, where pork belly and pork neck are grilled on a cauldron lid. Three of us — the writer, her mother and her sister — booked a table and ordered two servings of raw five-layer pork belly (200g, 18,000 won) and two of raw pork neck (200g, 18,000 won), plus a bubbling steamed egg and fried rice, with wrap greens that included wild garlic leaf and angelica, alongside green onion kimchi. Staff grill the meat at the table and a self-serve bar lets you refill side dishes, which made Gogigaondang an easy pick for a family dinner.

Inside Gogigaondang: atmosphere and table setting
The interior overall felt clean and comfortable! The wood-tone decor with bamboo blinds and lighting gave it a warm feel too. Every table had a cauldron lid built in!

We had reserved ahead, so our table was already neatly set up when we arrived!

Gogigaondang menu and prices: what three of us ordered
The menu had a wide range of options, from raw pork belly to pork neck, skirt meat, and pork jowl! Since there were three of us, we ordered two servings of raw pork belly and two servings of raw pork neck!
- ✔ Raw pork belly 200g ₩18,000 ×2
- ✔ Raw pork neck 200g ₩18,000 ×2
- ✔ Egg soufflé ₩4,000
- ✔ Steamed rice ₩1,000
- ✔ Fried rice ₩5,000

There was also a fridge on one side of the restaurant for storing the meat! They said the raw pork belly at Gogigaondang, this Bansong-dong restaurant, uses antibiotic-free, herb-fed grade-1 female pork.

Side dishes, wrap greens and the self-serve bar at Gogigaondang
Green onion kimchi, bracken fern, bean sprouts, tofu, shredded green onion, wild garlic leaf, kimchi, and even mukbap (acorn jelly soup) came out — a nice variety of sides that go well with grilled meat. The wrap greens were also served generously!

If you run low on any side dish, you can grab more from the self-serve bar set up on one side. When you're deep into grilling meat, the wrap greens and sides run out fast, so it was great to be able to help ourselves.

I especially loved the variety of wrap greens! Along with lettuce, perilla leaves, and cabbage, they even had angelica leaves. With so many wrap greens to choose from, it was fun trying different combinations with each bite of meat!

Does the staff grill the cauldron-lid pork belly and pork neck for you?
Finally, the raw pork belly and pork neck arrived! The meat was thick and looked so delicious. Onions and king oyster mushrooms came along with it! Staff grilled the meat for us directly, which was really convenient!

They placed the pork belly and pork neck on the big cauldron lid, and on one side grilled kimchi, green onion, tofu, bracken fern, and bean sprouts alongside! With meat and sides piled high on the cauldron lid, my mouth was already watering haha

Pork belly with wild garlic leaf, pork neck with wasabi
I tried the golden-browned pork belly wrapped in wild garlic leaf first! Pork belly and wild garlic leaf really is a can't-fail combo haha. The salty wild garlic leaf paired so well with the savory pork belly that I kept reaching for more!

I also tried wrapping it in perilla leaf and cabbage! With so many wrap options, even the same pork belly felt different each time by switching up the combination.

For the pork neck, I tried topping it with a little wasabi! The thick, well-grilled pork neck paired nicely with the sharp kick of wasabi. Pork belly wrapped in greens, pork neck with wasabi — we each enjoyed it our own way haha

Green onion kimchi, bubbling steamed egg and fried rice
And this place is a green onion kimchi destination. It's tasty grilled on the cauldron lid too, and pairs well eaten alongside the meat, so I kept going back for more. The green onion kimchi was so good that having it with steamed rice made it even better haha
The egg soufflé we ordered arrived too! The visual of the egg puffing up over the earthenware pot was great! It was soft and fluffy, perfect to eat in between bites of meat.
And finally, the fried rice! Rather than being fried tableside, it's cooked in the kitchen and brought out to you.

I love wrapping fried rice in lettuce, so I piled some onto a lettuce leaf and ate it up neatly to the very end!
