Busan chicken restaurant fruit set: Yetnal Tongdak & Tang
In short
Yetnal Tongdak & Tang Seomyeon Branch is a chicken restaurant in Busanjin, Busan, serving fried chicken and dakdoritang. Five of us came for a second round, sharing a fruit set and Earl Grey highballs at a round table, with permission for a birthday cake too. Verdict: the generous, crispy chicken was the highlight.

Yetnal Tongdak & Tang for a second round in Seomyeon
Yetnal Tongdak & Tang Seomyeon Branch (옛날통닭앤탕 서면점) is on the first floor at 73-1 Jungang-daero 680beonga-gil, Busanjin-gu, Busan, South Korea (부산광역시 부산진구 중앙대로680번가길 73-1 1층). It is open daily from 17:30 to 05:30, and accommodates groups, takeout, and delivery.

I’d wanted to try the famous Yetnal Tongdak & Tang in Yeonje-gu, and what?! There’s one in Seomyeon now too, so I’d been curious!!!! I finally went!!!! I love chicken dishes, so a place where you can have fried chicken and dakdoritang (Korean braised spicy chicken stew) together?

We came for a second round, and I was so happy that there was a round table where the five of us could sit cozily and eat together ><

Basic snacks and an Earl Grey highball
Shrimp chips, salad, and chicken radish pickles came as the basic snacks. One disappointing thing was that both the pickles and shrimp chips were soggy.. Still, I needed something to freshen my palate, so I ate the pickles; when I asked for a refill, they brought pickles from the fridge, so they were cold and at least a little better.
Earl Grey highball ₩6,900

Earl Grey highballs taste fairly consistent from place to place, so they’re an easy, safe kind of highball to order!!

The fruit set’s whole fried chicken and pineapple
Our food came out. Since this was our second round, we ordered the set menu with fruit as anju (food to have with drinks).
One whole traditional fried chicken

The whole traditional fried chicken wasn’t the old-school market-style chicken we know from places like Gamachi Chicken. I thought, “Isn’t the traditional fried chicken expensive?” but think of it as one whole order of regular fried chicken. It was incredibly generous!!!! It came with salt and chicken sauce, and, true to a great Busan chicken spot, it looked so delicious.

I could feel the crispiness just from picking it up with my chopsticks—so is this really a great Busan chicken spot after all?
Half a pineapple

It was only half a pineapple, but it was much more generous than I expected. The pineapple’s sweetness was just right too.

Since someone’s birthday was on the schedule, we always do cake during the second round, and they let us bring one. We celebrated properly and ate properly at Yetnal Tongdak & Tang Seomyeon Branch, a great Busan chicken spot >< Next time, I should come back for dakdoritang ~~~
