Jeonpo Chinese bar date night with half Peking duck: Mirim Yangjang

In short

Mirim Yangjang Busan Main Branch is a Chinese bar in Busanjin, Busan, serving Peking duck and shareable Chinese dishes. We ordered half a Peking duck, fried eggplant, Hong Kong-style egg noodles, fried pork ribs, and shrimp fried rice for a date. Verdict: Mirim Yangjang is worth revisiting for its food-and-drinks lineup and Hong Kong alleyway mood.

A place that felt like a scene from a Hong Kong movie, tucked into familiar Jeonpo alleyways.

Whenever my girlfriend and I wondered what to eat in Jeonpo, this was the place that came up—so we finally went to Mirim Yangjang Busan Main Branch.

Visiting Mirim Yangjang in Jeonpo

I saved it the moment I first visited. New places keep opening and disappearing in Jeonpo, but this one has consistently stayed a local favorite, so whenever I crave Peking duck, I end up back here. From its signature duck to all kinds of dishes, and especially the atmosphere—it is such a good vibe.

It is great for drinks with friends, a date, or ordering a spread for a group dinner. Maybe because I have been to Hong Kong, the setting did not just feel vaguely exotic—it felt like a beloved local restaurant down a Hong Kong side street.

Red lighting like a Hong Kong alley

At Mirim Yangjang, the atmosphere catches your eye before anything else. The aged feel of the space, its distinctive colors, and the props make you naturally look around as soon as you walk in, haha.

It has the feeling of a slightly old local restaurant deep in a Hong Kong alley, with Chungking Express-style vibes too, haha. The red lighting, vintage space, and dishes arriving on the table somehow reminded me of restaurants I saw while traveling.

Mirim Yangjang says it wants to be more than a place that simply sells food: somewhere to stop by during a busy day, eat well, enjoy the mood, and refresh yourself. After coming here, I totally get itㅠ I left feeling healed 😇 Especially when you are having a drink at night, the lighting makes the vibe even better. The atmosphere here is seriously a cheat code, haha.

First-floor counter seats and second-floor tables

Mirim Yangjang is split across two floors. The first floor has cozy two-person tables and counter seats, while the second floor has four-person tables for groups.

It is nice and intimate for two, while the upstairs tables look perfect for friends ordering lots of dishes to share.

The counter seats especially let you take in Mirim Yangjang's signature mood up close, so I recommend them for two people!!

Plenty of Chinese dishes beyond Peking duck

Mirim Yangjang listing and menu information
Mirim Yangjang place information

Mirim Yangjang does not only have Peking duck—there are seriously so many menu choices!!! You come for duck, then see the menu and immediately want to add another dish, haha.

Beyond Peking duck, there is guobaorou (sweet-and-sour crispy pork), mala tang, jjamppong soup, mapo tofu, spicy shrimp, mala tteokbokki, fried eggplant, yuringi fried chicken, menbosha shrimp toast, and more.

Peking duck and a range of Chinese dishes

There are fried dishes, noodles, soups, and dishes that go well with rice, so it is easy to build a different order depending on whether you are with a date, friends, or a group. With several people, get one Peking duck plus a few more dishes to share—successful Mirim Yangjang menu destruction!?

How to eat Mirim Yangjang's Peking duck

When you come to Mirim Yangjang, Peking duck is naturally the first thing you think of. I had it on my first visit too, and years later I still think about it, haha. Peking duck is not exactly something you come across every day, right? At first I thought, “Isn't it kind of like smoked duck?” But it is completely different, haha. I was so clueless…

The skin is roasted crisp, so it has a great texture with the meat. Wrap it with the thin pancakes, vegetables, and sauce, and it cuts through the richness while making every bite much fuller. I recommend putting everything in there 🤍

Our menu combination for two

The two of us ordered half Peking duck + fried eggplant + Hong Kong-style stir-fried egg noodles, then added Jupai fried whole pork ribs + shrimp fried rice!!

The Hong Kong-style stir-fried egg noodles were a review-event freebie ❤️ Time for the menu rundown👇

Half Peking duck ₩39,000

Half Peking duck served with thin pancakes
Mirim Yangjang “half Peking duck”

Crispy skin, juicy meat

The duck is delicious on its own, but wrapping it in the pancakes that come with it takes it up several levels 🆙🆙🆙 Put duck on a pancake, add shredded scallion + cucumber + sauce, then roll it up. We added extra pancakes and vegetables!! Free 😉

The crisp cucumber and scallion balance the nutty, fatty flavor of the duck skin, so it never feels greasy. The sauce is the kick: sweet and salty, and so good with the duck. I recommend packing each pancake generously with fillings, haha. I could taste the tiniest bit of heat too.

A half portion was not too much for two as a main, and it was a great amount for adding one or two more dishes!!

Fried eggplant ₩16,000

Crispy fried eggplant with house sauce
Mirim Yangjang “fried eggplant”

Crispy fried eggplant + sweet-and-tangy house sauce

Because of eggplant's distinctive texture, fried eggplant can be divisive, but this is the delicious kind: crisp outside, tender eggplant texture still intact inside. The sauce is seriously the kick here!! Its sweet-and-tangy house sauce is a perfect match, so I recommend dipping generously.

Fried eggplant with sweet-and-tangy sauce

It balances eggplant's natural richness, and the sweet-and-tangy flavor keeps you reaching back in, haha. Best of all, even when I dipped it heavily, the coating did not go soggy quickly and stayed crisp for quite a while. I think eggplant lovers—and even people unsure about its texture—would enjoy it!!

Review-event Hong Kong-style stir-fried egg noodles

Soy-sauce-based Hong Kong-style stir-fried egg noodles
Hong Kong-style stir-fried egg noodles

A salty, lightly sweet soy-sauce base + springy egg noodles

This was the dish we got through the review event!! The review-event portion is so generous…🧡 It is egg noodles stir-fried in a soy-sauce base with bean sprouts, bok choy, and more, so it was lighter than expected. Great to eat between the Peking duck and fried eggplant.

Jupai fried whole pork ribs ₩18,000

Jupai fried whole pork ribs with crispy fried chili peppers
Jupai “fried whole pork ribs”

Tender aged fried pork ribs with crispy fried chili peppers: such a good combination

This was our first time ordering the Jupai fried whole pork ribs!!! From the name, I expected simple fried ribs, but it is actually aged pork back ribs, fried and served with crispy fried chili peppers. It was much more special than I expected!!!

The coating was crunchy while the meat inside was incredibly tender, so it was easy to pull from the bone. We tried the meat with the fried chili peppers, and the pepper's aroma on top of the crisp batter made it feel completely different from ordinary fried ribs.

The combination was oddly addictive, so I kept taking one rib and one chili pepper together, haha. I almost ordered a highball / beer immediately. It was my first time trying it, but personally it was so good. Recommended alongside the Peking duck.

Shrimp fried rice ₩10,000

Fluffy fried rice with bouncy shrimp
Shrimp fried rice

I personally really enjoyed the shrimp fried rice. Each grain felt coated, so it was dry and fluffy rather than wet, and went down so easily 😋 The grains stayed distinct in every bite, giving it a nice texture and just the right seasoning. Most of all, the shrimp was bouncy, so the texture really came alive with the rice 🦐

Shrimp fried rice served alongside other dishes

You know that moment near the end when you suddenly crave carbs, haha? This is when one shrimp fried rice would be perfect. It is not overly seasoned, so it pairs well with the other dishes too.

What to order on a first visit

  • First visit → half Peking duck is essential
  • Love fried food → fried eggplant or fried whole pork ribs
  • Cannot handle spicy food → Hong Kong-style stir-fried egg noodles
  • Want several dishes for two → add one fried rice

Personally, I loved the Peking duck + fried eggplant combination most this time. Plus carbs (shrimp fried rice 🧡). Ordering a fried dish and a rice dish alongside the duck was perfect for two people to try a little of everything, haha.

Dinner and drinks together in Jeonpo

Looking at the menu, Mirim Yangjang works perfectly for a meal alone, but it is also ideal for enjoying with drinks.

Mirim Yangjang dishes with evening drinks

We brought the carㅠ so only my girlfriend clinked a highball 🍻 There are wrap-your-own dishes like Peking duck, drinking snacks like menbosha and guobaorou, and soup dishes like jjamppong soup for when you start craving broth. They have everything from baijiu to beer and highballs, so an evening visit naturally makes you want a drink, haha.

This should suit not only people looking for a good Jeonpo restaurant, but also those seeking a group-dinner spot or a date place with a great mood. Especially if you have spent the day café-hopping in Jeonpo and want drinks somewhere a little different for dinner, I totally recommend this route.

How to avoid weekend waiting

Mirim Yangjang is such a famous Jeonpo restaurant that there is often a wait. Weekends are especially busy; I even saw a review saying they visited around 4:30 p.m. on a weekend and waited about an hour.

Reservations are available through Naver/Tableling, so I recommend checking before you go. To avoid waiting, aim for an earlier time or an off-peak slot instead of weekend dinner rush. Still, Jeonpo itself has lots of cafés and places to browse, so if you wander around nearby while waiting, you will get called and run right over before you know it, haha. Quick quick.

Mirim Yangjang overall

Mirim Yangjang is a place where you can enjoy everything from its signature Peking duck to a broad range of dishes. We went for the duck and ended up ordering all the other things too, haha. Warning: empty wallet (but!!! satisfied). The food is delicious, but Mirim Yangjang's Hong Kong-recalling vibe is another big strength.

It is a perfect match for food and a drink in the evening 🍡 If you want a slightly special meal for a Jeonpo date, friends' gathering, or company dinner—or you are looking for a Jeonpo restaurant + bar + date spot all in one—I recommend Mirim Yangjang Busan Main Branch. There is always a reason you go back to a repeat-visit place, haha.

After finishing a meal at Mirim Yangjang
🪦RIP

This is a 100% honest personal review after visiting myself, ordering the menu, and absolutely demolishing it.
