There’s a seriously delicious Korean BBQ spot in Okgil-dong. I’ve already been three times—it’s the real deal. Everything from pork belly to pork neck and chewy pork is delicious, and they serve soft tofu stew for free. This incredible place is Dwaeji Gongbang Bucheon Okgil-dong Main Branch.

Dwaeji Gongbang near Bucheon Sosa Police Station: location and parking
Dwaeji Gongbang Bucheon Okgil-dong Main Branch, a great restaurant in Bucheon, is a Korean BBQ restaurant in front of the intersection near Bucheon Sosa Police Station.
There’s room for around three or four cars in front. If there’s no space, park at Okgil Parking Tower and let them know—they provide two hours of parking support. We were about to turn the car around because the front was full, but the owner came out and showed us a parking spot. Honestly, one reason I came back is because the owner is soooo kind!! The food is great, and the kindness is another reason I keep returning, hehe.

The exterior looks a little like a movie set, right? Hahaha, I’m into this kind of atmosphere.

Assorted platters and the weekend dinner atmosphere
The signature choices include thick Iberico Black Label pork neck, chewy pork, and Korean pork belly. They also have rib meat, pork jowl, and pork skin. If you can’t decide, I recommend the half assorted platter or assorted platter. The half platter is 500g for 2–3 people at ₩49,000, while the full platter is 800g for 3–4 people at ₩78,000. It’s nice to try a variety.

I went on a Sunday evening and it was almost full... wow. There can be a wait on Saturdays, and even Sunday was packed. Word has clearly gotten out.

The myeonginamul and pickled chili side-dish combo
They bring the side dishes as soon as you sit down. Another reason I’ve come here so many times is the banchan (Korean side dishes): the myeonginamul (pickled wild garlic leaves) and pickled chilies are insane. You can buy them to take home separately, but I prefer eating them with the meat here, so I decided to just come often instead..^^ Grilling meat at home is a hassle anyway, and it tastes much better here.. haha.

You can refill any side dishes you need at the self-service bar. It’s very clean and always fully stocked.

How long should you cook pork?
Dwaeji Gongbang has tips posted around the restaurant for making the meat taste even better. Be sure to read them as you eat—it really does make a difference. Lots of people think pork needs to be cooked all the way through, but Dwaeji Gongbang’s pork is best at about 80–90% cooked, locking in the juices. You do need to pay attention while grilling. But if you order pork neck, the staff help grill it, so it’s totally easy to eat it at its best.

Complimentary soft tofu stew and our order
Another plus!! They serve soft tofu stew for free. The portion is huge, rich, and ridiculously good.

Since I’ve been here several times, I know which meats are my favorites. This day, I ordered pork neck and chewy pork.
- Pork neck (170g) ₩17,000
- Chewy pork (170g) ₩15,000
- Pork skin (2 sheets) ₩8,000
- Cold noodles ₩8,000
- Steamed rice ₩1,000

Grilled white kimchi and pork on the grill
Usually you grill regular kimchi, but at Dwaeji Gongbang, you grill white kimchi on the barbecue. And it’s such a special treat. It’s salty with lots of savory depth, so it goes incredibly well with the meat.

The owner neatly trimmed the meat and arranged it beautifully like this, haha. It looks like a meat cake, right?

It was my first time ordering the cold noodles here, and they were deliciously straightforward!! Clean-tasting and a great match for the meat.

My favorite way to eat chewy pork
My absolute favorite combo is myeonginamul + chewy pork + pickled chili + white kimchi. This is the real deal, so please try it this way..!

Pork skin grilled with a press
The pork skin here is also amazing. When you order it, they bring spicy sauce and soybean powder too. It’s a real delicacy, seriously.

Press it down well with the grill press and cook it on the barbecue just like meat.

Once it’s nicely golden, cut it up and grill it a little longer—that’s it!!

It tastes like you could immediately put away three bottles of beerㅠㅠ I don’t usually eat pork skin, but whenever I come here, I have to order it. Pork skin is seriously essential. Dwaeji Gongbang Bucheon Okgil-dong Main Branch is a wonderfully revisitable restaurant with truly great meat. If you’re visiting Okgil-dong, you really need to try this place at least once.
