Today's post is a review of Jeju Eunhuine Haejangguk Suwon Ingye Branch, an Ingye-dong restaurant in Suwon where I had a proper hot bowl of haejangguk (hangover soup) with a drink or two on the side, haha. I went in planning to eat and have just a drink, but the food was so good that I ended up ordering makgeolli, then soju, then even beer. It was one of those days where lunch turned into full-on daytime drinking — good food just calls for a drink, doesn't it~

That day I'd watched a play in Ingye-dong, Suwon, and headed to the Ingye-dong restaurant strip for dinner and a drink. While looking for somewhere near Suwon City Hall Station for a lunchtime drink and a meal, haejangguk came to mind, so in we went!
How to walk from Suwon City Hall Station to the dol hareubang entrance

Walking near Suwon City Hall Station, you can spot the Jeju Eunhuine Haejangguk sign from far off, shaped like Jeju Island itself! Follow it in and you'll see a clean, sleek storefront sign~

Two dol hareubang (Jeju's iconic stone grandfather statues) greet you at the entrance~ Total Jeju restaurant vibes!

There's a standing menu board right at the entrance so you can check what to order before going in. From early lunch to evening drinks, this seems like a solid spot for anyone hunting for an Ingye-dong restaurant.
Is Jeju Eunhuine good for solo meals and family dinners?

Once inside, the space is really spacious, clean, modern, and comfortable!

The seats are spaced well apart with partitions, so it's a comfortable spot to sit and eat. There were solo diners, and baby chairs for families with young kids too! Great for eating alone or with family :)
It's also close to Suwon City Hall Station, so it seemed like a good option for office workers grabbing lunch or a work dinner near Suwon City Hall Station!

Just seeing the shape of Jeju Island gets me excited. The interior has Jeju's signature touches scattered around, so I sat down feeling all giddy!

The menu itself is simple and has that full Jeju-restaurant feel!
The self-serve bar with unlimited kkakdugi

Lovable seokbakji-style kkakdugi (radish kimchi) refillable to your heart's content!! Various seasonings and chili also unlimited! The self-serve bar is love~ As a kimchi lover I was so excited!!
We sat down, looked over the menu, and without hesitation ordered the boneless haejangguk and small dombe pork. These two are must-orders here! Trust me~ The haejangguk can be customized to your taste too — no blood cubes, no chili sauce, whatever you like. The dombe pork comes in small, medium, and large sizes depending on how many people you have. There's also a raw take-home package available!
They had a full lineup of drinks — makgeolli, soju, beer. We meant to start light, but the food was so good we ended up ordering all of them. If you're looking for a place near Suwon City Hall Station for a lunchtime drink, I highly recommend this spot!
The basic side dishes were kkakdugi, cheongyang chili, minced garlic, and ssamjang. The kkakdugi was crunchy and savory like seokbakji — I went back for several plates, haha. Haejangguk needs good kkakdugi, right! This place passes with flying colors~!
On top of that, there's a self-serve bar so you don't have to feel shy about seconds — as a kimchi lover, I fell completely for this place :)
Boneless hangover soup, 12,000 won: how does the broth taste?
Ta-da, the food arrived!!!

A table full of food. Let's taste everything one by one!
The boneless haejangguk finally arrived! It came out bubbling in a hot stone bowl, and even the visual alone made me feel better.

But one spoonful in, I was genuinely shocked. It was up there among the best haejangguk I've ever had!
The broth was rich but not heavy, went down clean, and had real depth of flavor. The broth alone was totally my style!!! There was none of the off smell haejangguk sometimes has — I'm sensitive to smells and can't eat it otherwise, but Eunhuine's haejangguk had zero off smell!!

As a garlic lover, I stirred in the minced garlic that came with it, and it made the flavor even richer and more savory! Add it however suits your taste!
Since it's boneless haejangguk, the meat inside was tender with no bones, and not chewy at all — really soft!! Bean sprouts and ugeoji (dried napa cabbage) were mixed in too, so every spoonful felt hearty and filling.

Eating the broth, meat, and other ingredients together, the flavors and textures came together really well. If you visit at lunchtime, this bowl alone would be filling enough — a great Suwon City Hall Station lunch option.

The blood cubes inside were nutty and delicious!!! I only meant to order the one bowl of haejangguk, but the broth was so good my spoon kept going back in, haha. I really found a great Ingye-dong restaurant!
Is the 3,000-won blood cube add-on worth it?

Once I ran low, I ordered a blood cube add-on! It was ₩3,000!! And that's when I got surprised all over again. I expected just a small extra portion of blood cubes, but it came back out looking like almost a full bowl again! Isn't that basically a steal? Plenty of blood cubes in there, and eating them with the broth was so, so good.
The distinct flavor of the blood cubes was there, but without any fishy or off smell, so it was easy to eat without hesitation.
Soft to bite into, and it paired really well with the rich haejangguk broth. Getting this much more food for just ₩3,000 extra left me totally satisfied! I'll definitely order the blood cube add-on again next time.
Small dombe pork, 13,000 won, with wrap vegetables and salted shrimp

The small dombe pork we ordered together arrived too. The meat was sliced thick and looked appetizing right away. It came with lettuce wraps and salted shrimp (saeujeot)!
I picked up a piece and it wasn't dry at all — nice and tender to chew. The lean meat and fat were balanced well, so the more you chewed, the more savory it got. Eating it while still warm made the tenderness stand out even more.

It's clean and tasty on its own, but wrapping it with the vegetables added a nice crunch. A piece of meat with garlic, chili, and a dab of sauce was the perfect drinking snack. I kept reaching for the dombe pork. And dombe pork calls for makgeolli... so makgeolli, go go!!
Makgeolli, soju and beer: daytime drinking over lunch
And that wasn't the end of it, haha. We started with just one glass of makgeolli, but paired with the dombe pork it turned out to go surprisingly well together. A sip of makgeolli after the soft, clean dombe pork brought out its savory flavor even more. Naturally, we ended up ordering soju, then a beer too. A shot of soju with the hot, rich haejangguk broth was such a great combo too.
And on top of it all, free rice refills!! Truly the best~ A bowl of haejangguk with rice at lunchtime is mouthwatering good!!

On the way out, cute little baby hareubang statues, haha — too cute not to photograph~ Even the mint candy dessert made for a perfect finish!! I'll definitely be back!!
Would I go back to Jeju Eunhuine near Suwon City Hall Station?
The boneless haejangguk is genuinely one of the best bowls of haejangguk I've ever had.
If you're near Suwon City Hall Station looking for hot, delicious haejangguk, this Suwon City Hall Station restaurant works well for lunch or dinner, especially if you want a hearty meal. I fell for the flavor that day and definitely want to come back for more. If you like haejangguk, save this as an Ingye-dong restaurant recommendation!
