In short

On a weekday lunch a couple took a window table and grilled tenderloin gyukatsu at 24,000 won and sirloin gyukatsu at 19,000 won with butter on the tabletop brazier, then added squid tempura even though the portions were already large. Why Gyuen-dang near Gwanggyo Jungang Station works for lunch
Gyuen-dang Avenue France Gwanggyo Branch is a gyukatsu (Japanese beef cutlet) restaurant in the basement of Avenue France near Gwanggyo Jungang Station. It's such a good spot to hit up for lunch haha. I think they also have branches in Seongsu and Gangnam!!

Since it was lunchtime, there were a lot of office workers there~~ It gave off a real Japan feeling, which I loved haha. I liked it even more because everything comes out as a full spread! Next time I'll have to try the omurice too haha.

What a window seat at Gyuen-dang feels like on a weekday lunch
My husband and I came together and sat at a window seat haha. The weather was nice, and being out on a weekday just felt so good haha. There's a café right next door too, so it seems like a nice spot to stroll around while you're there~~

The best way to eat the omurice at Gyuen-dang
- Carefully score the egg so it can slowly unfold.
- Once the knife passes through, wait for the moment the egg naturally opens up.
- Don't stir the sauce — pour it over the top so it flows down.
- They say it tastes best when you eat egg + brie cheese + rice + demi-glace sauce together in one spoonful.
🧀 Brie cheese tip — brie is a cheese with a white mold rind, and as it ages, the surface holds its shape while the inside softens and deepens in flavor!

How to grill gyukatsu with butter on the tabletop brazier
- Place two pieces of meat on the heated grill and cook to your preferred doneness.
- Try adding butter on top of the meat for extra flavor.
- Pair it with wasabi, salt, or the house special sauce to suit your taste.
- Call a staff member if you need anything else.
- Grill each side of the meat for about 15–20 seconds.
- Cook the beef to whatever doneness you like.
- We also recommend enjoying it with the side cheese and special sauce.

Tenderloin and sirloin gyukatsu, plus squid tempura
We ordered the tenderloin gyukatsu and the sirloin at Gyuen-dang!! The portions were huge~ We wondered if we could even finish it all, but we still ordered squid tempura on top haha.
The dishes came out fast!!! And butter comes with it too, so grilling the meat with it makes it super tasty~~~ If you add too much butter it gets a bit greasy, so I'd recommend just a little!!

Tenderloin or sirloin gyukatsu: which cut was better?
The sirloin came out too~~ The tenderloin was a bit soft, and the sirloin had a chewier texture~ I liked the sirloin more haha.
The squid tempura was also really good haha. Dipping it in the sauce made it so tasty haha. We ate it in between grilling rounds of gyukatsu~~~ It was so good that I finished a whole bowl of rice, which I hadn't done in a while haha.

Eating while looking out the window outside felt so nice haha. It felt like a real date, which we hadn't done in a while~~! There's spicy pickled radish too, and eating it alongside really helps the food go down haha. It was so good we kept piling on two or three pieces at a time haha.

We dipped it in the sauce too~~ And the sesame salad I love!! So good haha. Oh, and normally if the oil under the pork cutlet doesn't drain well it gets soggy, but there was none of that here, so I really enjoyed the meal haha.
