Hi, this is Kinggodbean, resident meat killer.
I suddenly craved meat after getting off work on a Friday, so I went to a Samsong restaurant haha. It's Samsong Neopttakjip, near Samsong in Goyang and Starfield. It's close to Starfield Goyang too, so it's a good spot for dinner after shopping.

Neopttakjip Samsong Branch hours and the Friday evening wait
Samsong Neopttakjip
Neopttakjip Samsong Branch is open daily from 12:00 to 23:00, with last order at 22:00.
I visited after work on a Friday, and sure enough, being Friday evening, there were a lot of customers. There's a bit of a wait!!! The storefront has long, large windows, so it doesn't feel stuffy from outside, and even though it's a BBQ place, it looked like ventilation would be good.

How big is the restaurant, and is there a private room?
Going inside, the restaurant was long and quite large. Table spacing was generous and the space felt open overall, so even with lots of customers it didn't feel cramped. There's also a room in the back, which seemed to be for reservations. For family gatherings or work dinners with a group, booking the room seems like a good option.

What side dishes and seasonings come with the meal?
Once seated, the basic side dishes came out one by one. Macaroni salad, scallion salad, chili dip, and kimchi arrived,

and they also set out seasoning for dipping the meat. The meat menu was pretty extensive, so while I was deciding what to order,

I ended up ordering the grilled vegetables and Sancheong black pork raw ribs that were listed as recommended menu items.

Sancheong black pork raw ribs, 19,000 won: thick but not greasy
The Sancheong black pork raw ribs are one of Neopttakjip's signature dishes, sold as the signature menu item for 19,000 won. After a short wait the meat arrived, and the thick cuts looked great from the color alone. The fresh-looking pork looked so appetizing that anyone who loves meat would feel good just from the visuals.

When the meat hit the grill it started sizzling right away, and the surface glistened with a nice sheen. That's when I started drooling a bit.

Even though the meat was thick, it wasn't a very fatty cut, so it was easy to eat without feeling heavy. Pork is delicious but if it's too fatty I sometimes get tired of it after a few bites — this one was light and easy to keep eating.

The self-serve bar, plus rice cake and sausage
One thing I liked here is that there's a self-serve bar in the middle of the restaurant. If you run low on side dishes while eating, you don't have to keep asking staff — you can just grab as much as you want from the self-serve bar without feeling awkward about it. If you're someone who eats a lot of scallion salad or side dishes with your meat, a self-serve bar like this is honestly convenient.

We also grilled rice cake and sausage, one each per person. The rice cake was chewy and the sausage plump, good to eat alongside the meat. The rice cake in particular was really chewy and delicious.

I tried a piece of the meat and it was light yet juicy, so I kept reaching for more. Yum, good.

Dipping the pork in myeoljeot, with grilled kimchi on the side
They also served myeoljeot (fermented anchovy sauce) here. Dipping the pork in myeoljeot adds that distinctive funky, salty flavor, which pairs quite well with the meat.

If you like myeoljeot, give it a try. We also grilled kimchi on the pan, and the kimchi was pretty sour. If you like tangy, sour kimchi, this should suit your taste.

Finishing with sundubu jjigae and a bowl of rice
After eating meat nonstop, I started craving rice, so for dessert we ordered sundubu jjigae (soft tofu stew) and a bowl of rice. We split it between the two of us, and the stew was packed with meat too. The broth was spicy and hearty with plenty of meat, making it a satisfying way to finish. Eating meat and then stew with rice made for a proper full meal.
On a blazing Friday... meat, side dishes, the self-serve bar, and the stew at the end — a solid, satisfying meal. The restaurant is fairly spacious and has a private room, so it works well for gatherings or work dinners, and it's worth a visit for anyone near Starfield Goyang looking for a place to eat pork.

If you're in the mood for great meat and a proper meal with rice, give Samsong Neopttakjip a try haha.
