Suwon Station pasta set: rose cream shrimp and margherita pizza

I had a great meal with a friend I hadn't seen in a while at Rolling Pasta, a well-known spot near Suwon Station. Here's my review after trying the aglio e olio, rose cream shrimp pasta, and margherita pizza, plus my thoughts on the bright, comfortable interior.

Visiting in person, I found the prices weren't a burden at all — we got two kinds of pasta, a pizza, and drinks in one go. There were quite a few student customers when I went, and the wide windows made the space feel bright and comfortable.

Inside Rolling Pasta Suwon Station Branch

There are so many restaurants around Suwon Station that it's actually hard to decide where to go. Rolling Pasta had a huge picture window taking up almost an entire wall. Visiting during the day, natural light streamed in and gave the whole place a bright feel.

The tables weren't cramped together either, and the wood-and-navy interior felt casual but clean. There were plenty of student customers when I visited. It seemed like a comfortable place for friends to drop into for lunch or dinner near Suwon Station.

Rolling Pasta menu and what comes in the set

True to its name, Rolling Pasta had a pretty wide variety of pastas. Beyond cream, rose, and oil-based pastas, there was pizza, pilaf, risotto, and steak too, so you don't have to stick to pasta alone. We went back and forth and ended up ordering a set so we could try several things at once.

My set had rose cream shrimp pasta, aglio e olio, and margherita pizza, along with cola and blue lemonade. For two people, getting two plates of pasta plus pizza and drinks felt like a solid combination.

What does the aglio e olio taste like?

First up was the aglio e olio. There was a generous amount of oil sauce underneath, with plenty of cheese piled on top. Cherry tomatoes and chili peppers were mixed in too, so the color made it look pretty appetizing.

Rather than a fully plain oil pasta, this one had a slight kick of spice at the end. It wasn't so spicy that it was hard to eat — if anything, that spiciness helped whet the appetite.

Since the rose cream shrimp pasta was on the richer, thicker side, alternating between the two worked really well together. If you're visiting as a pair, ordering one oil-based and one cream-based pasta to share, rather than two of the same sauce, seems like a good move.

Rose cream shrimp pasta: the shrimp and the sauce

The rose cream shrimp pasta looked completely different from the aglio e olio right from the start. There was plenty of rose cream sauce, with the noodles piled up in the center so you could coat them thoroughly in sauce.

The sauce was on the thicker side. It would suit people who prefer noodles heavily coated in cream sauce rather than a runnier rose sauce. There was a generous amount of shrimp too, so it didn't feel like you were just eating noodles.

Being able to eat shrimp along with the pasta throughout the dish was a nice touch. If you like thick, creamy pasta, I think this one suits that better than the aglio e olio.

The margherita pizza in the set

The margherita pizza that came with the set paired well with the pasta. Cheese generously covered the whole pizza, with basil sauce dotted here and there. Adding the pizza made the table look much more filling than just two plates of pasta would have.

The crust wasn't a thick style, so having a slice alongside the pasta didn't feel heavy at all. Especially if you want to try a variety of things like we did, adding pizza to the mix is a good idea.

Drinks: cola and blue lemonade

We drank cola and blue lemonade together. The blue lemonade came in a large glass with ice and lemon, and it was refreshing and delicious.

Is Rolling Pasta Suwon Station Branch worth it?

If you're looking for a good pasta spot near Suwon Station that isn't too pricey but is still easy to walk into, Rolling Pasta was solid. The store had a wide picture window that kept it bright and comfortable, and I did see quite a few student customers there. What I liked most about the food was ordering two pastas with completely different characters.

Going from the slightly spicy, appetite-whetting aglio e olio to the rich rose cream shrimp pasta meant I didn't get tired of eating the way I would with just one dish. On top of that, we got a cheese-loaded pizza and refreshing drinks too, so it's great value for money. If you're looking for pasta near Suwon Station, or want to enjoy several menu items together without much of a financial burden, this place is worth checking out.
