Myeongdong jokbal restaurant to bring your parents to: Miss Jokbal

In short

Miss Jokbal Seoul Myeongdong Branch is a jokbal (braised pig's trotter) restaurant in Myeongdong, Jung-gu, Seoul, a 3-minute walk from Euljiro 1-ga Station Exits 5 and 6. Dining here with their parents, the writer ordered the Emperor Jokbal (58,000 won) and finished it down to the bones along with kimchi kalguksu (knife-cut noodles), salted shrimp, ssamjang and mala sauce, plus dubu kimchi, japchae and gimbap sides. The collagen was springy and the meat tender — the writer's parents said it was nothing like store-bought jokbal, which settled Miss Jokbal as a Myeongdong jokbal favourite.

Emperor Jokbal at 58,000 won: what comes with it and how to eat it

We ordered the famous Emperor Jokbal!!! (58,000 won) The reviews were so impressive that I was super excited!!

Emperor Jokbal menu signage

First, how to enjoy Miss Jokbal the right way~~

  • Cool your mouth down first with kimchi kalguksu (kimchi noodle soup)
  • Try the jokbal plain first, no sauce, to taste it as it is
  • Dip it in ssamjang (soybean paste), salted shrimp, or mala sauce
  • Pair it with salad or makguksu (buckwheat noodles) to cut the richness

That's what they say~~!~!~!~!

Guide to eating Miss Jokbal the recommended way

Kimchi kalguksu, the first dish to arrive

The kimchi kalguksu arrived first!

A bowl of kimchi kalguksu served first

They gave a pretty generous amount of noodles too~~ Apparently kalguksu comes with every menu.. so you get to enjoy it with the broth, which sounded so good and spicy hahaha

And here are the salted shrimp, ssamjang, and mala sauce!!!

Eating Emperor Jokbal with my parents: springy collagen, tender meat

The Emperor Jokbal finally arrived, and I went with my parents — everyone was amazed by how it looked haha

Full table set with Emperor Jokbal

And the portion was honestly huge.. The collagen part was so chewy and the meat part so tender, my dad said it was nothing like the jokbal he bought and brought home last time haha

Kimchi refills and the side dishes at Miss Jokbal

They refill the kimchi, pickled radish, muk (jelly) and more — you can ask for extra.

Basic side dishes: kimchi, pickled radish, muk jelly, and more

Dubu kimchi (tofu with stir-fried kimchi), salad, lettuce, napa cabbage, perilla leaves, japchae (glass noodle stir-fry).. you could fill up on the side dishes alone..

Oh, there was even gimbap (seaweed rice roll) haha. With all these different traditional Korean dishes, it seems like a great spot for foreign visitors to try a bit of everything. No wonder there were so many foreign tourists there..!!!

Gimbap served as a side dish

For the first bite, wrap it in lettuce with radish.

When it starts to feel a bit rich, the kimchi kalguksu clears it right out. The noodles are so chewy too, so good!!!

Write a Naver review, get a jumeokbap rice ball coupon

And everyone!! If you write a Naver review, they give you a rice ball (jumeokbap) coupon too!!! It's a decent portion and nutty, so definitely order it😆😆

We were too lazy to make it into rice balls ourselves though..haha The pickled radish went great with it too, so tasty!!

We had a bite with napa cabbage too~~ My parents were so satisfied in the end, which made me really proud.. You know a restaurant is truly good when your parents say so, right???

Finished to the bones: a Myeongdong jokbal restaurant open until 3am

We cleared everything but the bones~~~ Collagen intake: complete.. The place was already full when we walked in, and people kept coming in the whole time!!! Since they're open until 3am, it's a great option even for a late visit.. Officially a Myeongdong jokbal favorite.. want to go back!!!💗💗💗
