Pyeongtaek BBQ, noodles: Ihwajeong Charcoal-Grilled Pork Galbi
In short
Ihwajeong Charcoal-Grilled Pork Galbi is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi. My husband and I ordered marinated grilled pork, mul naengmyeon, and doenjang jjigae, and loved the generous meat and marinade that was not just sweet. Verdict: A convenient, satisfying choice for a family meal.

Ihwajeong Charcoal-Grilled Pork Galbi is on the road from Pyeongtaek toward Wongok, Anseong! There is a large sign in front of the building, though the Migodam sign is much easier to spot. It is on the second floor of the same building as Migodam. There is a large parking lot out front, so it is easy to visit by car. No parking stress, so I think it would be great for a family meal too, haha.

Spacious tables and kid-friendly amenities
Inside, there was plenty of space between the tables, and some seats were divided up like booths, so it was nice to eat without worrying about the table next to us!

And for families visiting with children like us, whether there are high chairs is important. They had high chairs ready, along with children's tableware, so it was easy to eat with our little one 👶🏻

Ordering marinated grilled pork and mul naengmyeon
The menu is fairly simple. You know places with a short menu are the real hidden gems, right? They have marinated grilled pork, marinated pork galbi, and beef rib meat, plus naengmyeon and doenjang jjigae. We ordered Ihwajeong's marinated grilled pork, mul naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles in chilled broth), and doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew)!

Banchan at the self-service bar and refills
The banchan (Korean side dishes) came out first, and there was quite a variety. There were lettuce and ssam greens, salad, japchae, and more, and we could help ourselves to anything we needed from the self-service bar. The marinated raw crab costs extra, but all the other side dishes can be refilled!

Thick, generous charcoal-grilled marinated pork
Here comes the star of the show—the galbi! The meat was thicker than I expected, and even though it was two servings, the portion was so generous that it looked like a lot from the moment it arrived. Usually, two servings at a barbecue restaurant can feel a bit lacking, but this was plenty, which I loved!! We grilled it until golden over charcoal, and of course, galbi tastes best grilled over charcoal 🔥

I tried a piece once it was nicely cooked, and first of all, the marinade was delicious! It was not aggressively sweet—it had soaked nicely into the meat, so it was delicious even on its own. My husband tried it too and said it was tasty... Once again, I felt like I had picked a great restaurant, haha.

Pairing mul naengmyeon and doenjang jjigae
We also ordered mul naengmyeon, and its clean, refreshing flavor went so well with the meat. Especially when I wrapped a piece of pork galbi around the mul naengmyeon, this combination was seriously delicious…🤤

We ordered doenjang jjigae too, and the broth was tasty, making it great with rice. Cooling down with naengmyeon while eating the meat, then having doenjang jjigae too—perfect 🐷🤍

Pear slush after the meal
And after the meal, they even had pear slush for dessert! It totally tasted like Tankboy, haha. It was cool and sweet with a pear flavor, so it was just right for finishing the meal ♡˖⊹
The meat portion was generous and the marinade was delicious, so I was really happy with this place! The galbi-and-mul-naengmyeon wrap was tasty too, and the large parking lot was convenient. With high chairs and children's tableware ready, it was also a great Pyeongtaek pork galbi restaurant for dining out with kids 🤎 If you are looking for a place for a family meal around Pyeongtaek or a good restaurant in Sosa-beol, give it a visit 𓂃𓂂⋆
