Jeonpo-dong curry restaurant with lime water self-serve bar: Sarugak20
In short
Sarugak20 is a Japanese-style curry restaurant on the basement level at 78 Seojeon-ro 68beon-gil in Jeonpo-dong, Busanjin, Busan. A friend and I ordered the half-and-half curry for 10,000 won and the brisket cream curry for 11,000 won with sausage and a sweet potato cheese croquette, spending 26,500 won in total, and the self-serve bar at Sarugak20 stocked lime water and green tea as well as plain water. The curry is spicy enough that it never feels heavy, and rice and curry sauce refills are free, so Sarugak20 works for a solo lunch or a get-together.

Ta-da~ Here's the exterior of Sarugak20! There's a cute standing sign with a monkey drawing in front of the shop 🐒

Sarugak is a basement curry shop in Jeonpo! 🍛 You go inside and down the stairs to the basement level~

This is the counter you see right as you come down the stairs! It says frozen curry is available for takeout 🎁

On the wall right next to it, there are vintage-style props on display!
Seating inside Sarugak20: bar counter, four-person tables and floor seats
Inside Sarugak20, there's a bar table for solo diners, tables for 4 and 6, and a floor seating area where you take off your shoes. Even though it's a basement, sunlight comes in nicely through the windows, which was lovely!
The bar table is a great seat for solo dining 👍🏻 Small framed pictures on the wall near the 4-person table added to the atmosphere 🤍

There's a sink on one side where you can freely wash your hands 🤲🏻 There was even hand cream stocked there! (Nice touch from the owner 👍🏻) There's a small bar table here too, so it's a good spot to come and eat alone ☺️

Near the counter, water and cups are set out so you can drink freely whenever you're thirsty 💦

All the seating is wooden tables and chairs! With the overall wood-tone interior, it felt warm and cozy 🤎

The place overall has a clean and pleasant vibe 🤍 With mainly tables for 4 and 6, it's great for coming with family or friends 👨👩👧👦
This is the floor seating area, where you take off your shoes to sit. It's more private than the other seats, so it's good for quiet conversation 🥰
The vintage props on display at Sarugak20
A small shelf is mounted on the wall like this, displaying cute little props 🩷

On one side there's a corner decorated with vintage-style props~ It matched the autumn vibe so well 🍂

Various pictures are hung on the wall, and wood-tone furniture is placed around 🪑 There are also lots of cute little items like necklaces, bracelets, and rings, so it's fun to look around!

Browsing the cute little props...🩷 There were even clothes and bags hanging up haha 👜

Sarugak20's menu board and the lime water and green tea self-serve bar
At Sarugak20 you order at the counter first and wait at your table, and water is self-serve. Now that I've covered the interior, let me introduce the menu! Here's the full menu board for reference 📝 There's also a review event going on, so if you visit, make sure to join and get a free drink 🩷

The water provided by default is self-serve! 💦 On the left is regular still water, and on the right is lime water and green tea 🍋🍃 It was nice being able to drink whatever suits your taste 🥰

After ordering at the counter, we waited at the table for the food to come out~ While waiting, I snapped a photo of the napkins and cutlery 🥄 Now let me introduce what I ordered!
What we ordered at Sarugak20 and what it cost
- Half-and-half curry: ₩10,000
- Brisket cream curry: ₩11,000
- Sausage: ₩2,000
- Sweet potato cheese croquette: ₩3,500
- Total: ₩26,500

Finally, our order arrived!! The look and smell of the curry alone made it seem so delicious haha. Just looking at it made me hungry...🤤🩷 The plating was so pretty it was great for photos too 📸

Half-and-half curry, 10,000 won: cream curry plus special curry
First up is the half-and-half curry I had! 🍛 Half-and-half curry combines cream curry + special curry~ The cream curry has a really smooth, creamy texture! The special curry has plenty of beef and cheese loaded into the curry sauce, so it was so delicious 🤤🩷
And to finish, the fresh tang of the cherry tomatoes went really well with the curry 🍅 The curry is basically spicy by default, so it wasn't greasy at all! The cream curry was a bit spicy too, and the special curry felt even spicier, so I enjoyed it a lot 🥰 Both were totally my type of curry 💫

Brisket cream curry, 11,000 won, with free rice and curry sauce refills
Next is the brisket cream curry my friend had 🍛 It also had that signature soft, slightly spicy, creamy texture of cream curry 🩷 On top of the rice was a generous amount of savory brisket! I tried the brisket too, and it wasn't tough at all, it was so good 😋 And the rice and curry sauce can be refilled, so you can have more if you run out!!👍🏻

Sides at Sarugak20: sausage 2,000 won and sweet potato cheese croquette 3,500 won
And here's the sausage we ordered as a side! You get 2 sausages by default haha. Eating the curry together with the plump sausage was even more delicious~

Lastly, the sweet potato cheese croquette! This also comes with 2 by default~ There's salad underneath so you can eat it without feeling greasy haha

Taking a bite, the outside was crispy fried and the inside was filled with sweet, moist sweet potato, so good 🍠🤤 It was packed full of sweet potato so it felt filling and hearty 💛 Dipping the croquette in the curry sauce was such a great match and so tasty 👍🏻
Who is Sarugak20 in Jeonpo-dong best for?
I was very satisfied with Sarugak20 — the curry was so delicious and the side dishes overall were really good too 👍🏻 If you like Japanese-style curry, you should definitely visit and try it 🍛 It's good for solo dining and also good for coming with a group 🩷 The owner was also very kind and welcoming, which I appreciated 🥰 I'd strongly recommend this as a place I want to revisit 💫
