Jeonpo-dong curry restaurant near Jeonpo Station Exit 8: Sarugak20

Hi everyone! Happy weekend! Hope you're all having a good one haha. Today I visited a curry place that's basically a sunlight paradise!

Sarugak20 hours and the walk from Jeonpo Station Exit 8

Sarugak20 is a curry restaurant in a basement space in Jeonpo-dong, Busan, right across from the Jeonpo Community Center. It's closed on Mondays, open Tuesday–Saturday 10:00–19:30 (last order 19:00), and Sunday 10:00–17:00 (last order 16:30) — so note that Sundays close a bit earlier. 🤗

There's no parking space or parking fee support, so if you're driving you'll need to use a public parking lot. If you're on foot, just come out of Jeonpo Station Exit 8! Walk up a slight hill and look for the shop in the photo. *It's in the basement, right across from the Jeonpo Community Center.

Sarugak20 is the second branch of Moru Sikdang

Before we get into it — do you all know Moru Sikdang (모루식당)? It was a curry place tucked in the Jeonpo Café Street alley with a tiny attic loft, and Sarugak20 is actually that same Moru Sikdang's second branch! I still vividly remember being blown away by the visuals and taste when I first discovered Moru Sikdang. 🫧

Carrying that memory with me, I headed down the stairs to the basement, and the exterior was already so pretty from the entrance. The female owner sweetly greeted us as we came down, warning us to watch our heads.. ♡

Window bar table or floor seating at Sarugak20?

By the window at Sarugak20 there's a long bar table with stools, and old tiled roofs and buildings visible through the window gave the space its own distinct mood. Seems like a comfortable spot to sit alone and enjoy a bowl of curry too, right? 😀

There's also a separate floor-seating area off to one side. Later on, families with young kids came in and they seemed to love it! It's a simple space with just a small table and a single light, but that simplicity actually made it feel even cozier.

Near the entrance they also sell some cute little props and trinkets. Overall, the wood-toned furniture and warm lighting blended together for a naturally vintage feel.

The vibe was so pretty that I spent a while just looking around before finally getting to the menu haha 😅 Everything looked delicious, and the cream soda drinks looked tempting too, so it took forever to pick.

Half-and-half curry vs special curry: what's the difference?

What we ordered was the half-and-half curry, special curry, and a Sprite.

It happened to be exactly the time when sunlight was streaming onto the table, so the moment the food arrived I immediately started snapping photos haha! They serve it with rice laid in a long strip down the middle and two different-colored curries on either side — the colors are so distinct that comparing the two flavors as you eat is part of the fun, and I liked that the plate never got boring even by the end. Peeking at another table's order, I noticed they'd added a scramble to their half-and-half curry — a yellow scramble sitting where our cherry tomatoes were. We kind of regretted not adding it ourselves. 🥲

At first I tried each curry separately, then after a while I mixed them a little with the rice.

The special curry comes with a beef curry plus sausage — eating a bit of sausage along the way adds a salty edge, and pairing it with the egg makes it even smoother! Seeing the two plates side by side, it struck me that even curries at the same place can have totally different compositions, so ordering a few dishes to share seems like a great idea.

Why this Jeonpo-dong basement gets so much sunlight

With the wood-toned furniture, vintage props, warm lighting, and sunlight all coming together, the whole place felt calm and comfortable — and even though the restaurant is in a basement, the light came in far better than expected, so pretty much every seat made for a nice photo. It's a great spot for family or friends, and just as fitting for a relaxed date meal. ♡
