Today I'm introducing a true regular spot I used to visit all the time whenever I had plans in Songdo — Plan A Restaurant, a Pohang Songdo favorite with a wide-open ocean view and great value! Here's my honest review of the ocean-view atmosphere, delicious cream pasta, shrimp pilaf, and shrimp salad, still just as charming after all this time!

Where is Plan A Restaurant? 4th floor in front of Songdo Beach

Plan A Restaurant is right in front of Songdo Beach. Even from a distance, it's easy to spot thanks to the blue GS25 convenience store sign on the 1st floor and the 'Songdo Meat Restaurant' balloon air sign.

Once you head up to the 4th floor of this building, the wide-open ocean view during the day is truly beautiful!

Plan A Restaurant hours and break time

Plan A Restaurant is open from 11:15 AM to 9 PM, with last order at 20:30. Note that the mid-day break time differs slightly between weekdays and weekends, so be sure to check! Weekdays it's 15:15–17:00, and weekends it's 15:30–17:00. I'd recommend avoiding these hours so you don't make a wasted trip.

A regular's take on the interior and the floor-to-ceiling sea view

Plan A is a restaurant I used to visit often back when I had plans around Songdo! Even visiting again after a long while, the sophisticated yet cozy atmosphere it's known for was still exactly the same, and memories came flooding back the moment I walked in!

The clean white tones, warm wood-toned large bookshelf interior, and soft lighting — it's a space that puts your mind at ease no matter when you come. The tables are spacious and the restaurant is comfortable, so I always leave feeling satisfied every time I visit.

Especially the wide-open Pohang Songdo sea view through the floor-to-ceiling windows by the seats never gets old — during the day the blue sea is healing, and in the evening it gets a bit dark but you get a night view instead.

Self-serve bar, high chairs, and Plan A Restaurant's pet policy

On one side of Plan A Restaurant there's a clean self-serve bar area where you can easily grab any tableware you need. Side plates and bowl-shaped dishes, spoons, forks, knives, tissues, and wet wipes are all neatly and hygienically arranged.

There are baby chairs, and this restaurant also allows pets. However, they must be brought in a carrier, carry bag, cage, or stroller! For reference, it's fine to let your dog's head peek out at your seat, but carrying them around or letting them loose on the floor is not allowed — this isn't a dog-only restaurant, so please make sure to check!

And in another section, there's a space with knee blankets and cushions! Sometimes the air conditioning makes it a bit chilly, or wearing a skirt can be uncomfortable — but there are plenty of soft blankets ready to grab whenever you need them, which is really convenient.

On the wood table, side plates and paper cups are neatly set out for each person. Spoons, forks, napkins — and even individually wrapped wet wipes for hygiene — are nicely arranged in a basket.

Each table has a tablet menu installed. You can sit comfortably and browse the entire menu with photos at your own pace before ordering — very convenient!

What we ordered at Plan A Restaurant and what it cost

Finally, the main dishes we ordered filled up the table! From the shrimp salad to the cream pasta with its nutty aroma hitting your nose, to the hearty pilaf that hits the spot for Korean palates — the combination was perfect. The portions were also much more generous than expected, so I'm always fully satisfied every time I come.

Carbonara, 15,000 won — thick, rich cream pasta

Here's the cream pasta! You can tell at a glance the sauce isn't watery at all — that thick, rich texture clinging perfectly to the noodles, right?

Taking a big forkful, the creaminess and deep flavor spread across my mouth — and with the generous amount of salty bacon packed in, it added both a satisfying chew and umami at the same time!

Whole shrimp pilaf, 16,000 won — fluffy rice with a spicy kick

Next up is the whole shrimp pilaf. The rice grains were stir-fried well without turning mushy, staying nice and fluffy — the texture was really great. Every big spoonful was packed with plump shrimp that burst with each bite, making it fun to eat.

The slightly spicy, savory sauce base was topped with a soft white sauce and cheese that gently mellowed out the heat — an addictive flavor that made it impossible to put the spoon down.

Shrimp salad, 13,000 won — a palate refresher between bites

Amid the heavy Western dishes, the shrimp salad played the role of a refreshing oasis! Its colorful look caught my eye first — crisp, fresh lettuce and chicory topped with plump, meaty shrimp.

And on top, nutty sliced nuts, tangy cranberries, and cheese powder were all generously piled on! Eating it between bites of pasta or pilaf cleansed the palate nicely, and the pairing worked really well. The salad portion was so generous it could easily work as a standalone dish for anyone watching their diet!

My verdict on Plan A Restaurant

Revisiting this restaurant full of memories, my trip to Plan A Restaurant, a Pohang Songdo favorite, was very satisfying. Enjoying deep-flavored Western food made with house-made sauces at a reasonable price while looking out at the wide-open Songdo ocean view from the 4th floor — it's a top-notch, great-value spot for the atmosphere.

Rich and nutty cream pasta, fluffy spicy-salty shrimp pilaf, and refreshing shrimp salad to wake up the palate — the combination of these three dishes was perfect. The restaurant is spacious, ordering via tablet is convenient, and thoughtful touches like knee blankets add to the experience — if you're looking for a foolproof date course or gathering spot at Plan A Restaurant, a Pohang pasta ocean-view favorite, I highly recommend it!
