Pangyo Korean restaurant with private rooms: spicy galbi-jjim at Useum
In short
Useum Pangyo Branch is a Korean restaurant and bar on the 1st floor of the Metro Cube building in Sampyeong-dong, Seongnam, Gyeonggi. Cloth-divided private rooms and a terrace line with clear film walls make Useum Pangyo Branch an easy choice for a quiet dinner drink for two or a family or work gathering, and the spicy braised beef short ribs cost 58,000 won with rice ordered separately. The ribs were tender enough for the meat to slide off the bone and the heat felt about the same as Shin Ramyun, so the rice kept disappearing.

Useum, a good spot in Pangyo for a meal with the family or coworkers

Useum Pangyo Branch: a Pangyo Korean restaurant and bar that works for two

I went to Useum, a well-known spot in Pangyo, haha. My boyfriend and I were looking for somewhere with a bit of atmosphere that would still fill us up, and we ended up here — the space was bigger and more private than I expected, so it seemed like it'd work well for family gatherings or dinners with coworkers too.

Where to park: Metro Cube surface lot, 2 hours covered with a meal
If you're driving, you don't really need to worry about parking! You can use the Metro Cube building's surface parking from floor 2 to floor 7, and they give you a whopping 2 hours free if you eat there haha. What I really liked was how spacious the parking spots were lol. Around Pangyo, tight parking lots can stress you out the moment you drive in, but here there was plenty of room, so we parked easily and headed up.

What the cloth-divided private rooms and terrace line are like
Once we stepped inside, the lighting changed the whole mood — they used indirect lighting throughout, so it was soft and calm haha. It wasn't dim in a gloomy way; you could still see the food clearly while the atmosphere stayed nice, so it was perfect for a light dinner drink.

Further inside, there was a separate private room area too. Each space was naturally divided using cloth, and honestly that felt less stuffy than a fully closed-off room. It blocked just enough of the view from the next table or passersby, so we could chat comfortably while eating. It seemed like it'd be good for a quiet family meal or for a bigger group gathering.

The terrace line had clear film walls so you could see straight outside, which gave it an open feel haha. Even sitting indoors, there was no closed-in feeling, so the whole space felt bigger.

Restrooms, aprons and high chairs at Useum Pangyo Branch
The restrooms are inside the restaurant and gender-separated, so it was nice not having to go outside and hunt for the building's restrooms.

On one side there were plenty of thin self-serve aprons you could grab, and several baby chairs too. It seemed like you wouldn't have much trouble bringing a kid along for a family gathering.

Looking at the table, napkins were stocked generously, and basics like salt and pepper were already set out. Might seem like a small thing, but not having to keep flagging down staff while eating is quietly convenient lol.
Spicy braised beef short ribs, 58,000 won, ordered at the kiosk
Ordering was simple through the kiosk. We debated what to get... and went with the spicy braised beef short ribs, go go.
Spicy braised beef short ribs, ₩58,000. It said the ribs come from a cauldron with a house-made spicy sauce, and I just can't resist that kind of description lol. We both love spicy food so we ordered it right away.

Country of origin labeling was also neatly displayed off to the side, easy to check, and there was a review event running too. Apparently if you participate you get an Asahi draft beer, so if you want a cold one with your meat, might be worth joining in.

After a short wait, the basic side dishes came out first. Seaweed, kimchi, stir-fried fish cake and ham, kkakdugi (diced radish kimchi), and salted seafood — the familiar sides that just make you crave rice lol. Since the main dish is braised ribs, these mild, non-spicy sides paired well alongside it.
How spicy are the braised short ribs, and how tender is the meat?
Spicy braised beef short ribs
And then the spicy braised beef short ribs we'd been waiting for showed up haha. It was already bubbling away when it arrived, and honestly it looked seriously appetizing lol. The red sauce bubbled up around the big chunks of rib fully submerged in it, and the second it hit the table, a spicy-sweet smell spread everywhere. It comes fully cooked already, so you don't need to cook it long at the table — just simmer it a bit more to keep it warm.

My boyfriend cut the rice cake and meat into bite sizes, and since the meat was cooked so thoroughly, you could feel how soft it was the moment the scissors touched it lol. It wasn't the type where the meat clings stubbornly to the bone — even a light touch separated them easily. I picked up a piece and, sure enough, so tender. It had that signature soft texture of long-braised ribs, and the sweet-salty sauce had soaked all the way through, nice and moist.
I figured 'spicy braised beef short ribs' might mean intensely spicy, but to my taste it was just the right level of spicy-delicious haha. It felt about as hot as Shin Ramyun — my mouth tingled a little, but I could keep eating comfortably. The sauce wasn't just spicy for spice's sake either — it was sweet and salty first, with the heat following at the end, the kind of flavor that really makes you crave rice lol.

It wasn't just ribs sitting there alone either. There were shiitake mushrooms, sweet pumpkin, ginkgo nuts, and chestnuts mixed in, so it was fun picking through everything. Especially grabbing a piece of sweet pumpkin from among the spicy sauce — it was fluffy and sweet, giving your mouth a little reset, a great combination.

Rice costs extra: eating it with salted squid and dried seaweed
Oh, and rice is sold separately so we ordered it extra. White rice is a must with braised ribs, of course lol. Glossy warm rice with a piece of tender rib on top — honestly, that's all you need. The lightly sauced meat went really well with the rice.

The squid jeotgal (salted squid) that came with it was tasty spooned over the rice too, and wrapping the warm rice and rib in dried seaweed was also great. Rice with a piece of meat, then a bit of squid jeotgal on the side, then next wrapping rice and rib in seaweed lol — switching up the combos like that, a whole bowl of rice disappeared in no time. The ribs themselves were so tender and the sweet-salty-spicy sauce soaked in so well that, personally, I ate pretty happily.
Is Useum Pangyo Branch worth returning to for a work or family dinner?
Beyond the food, I really liked the overall vibe of the place haha. With the soft lighting and privately divided spaces, it was better for talking quietly among ourselves than a loud, bustling spot. The terrace side had that open feel too, so it was the perfect atmosphere for a dinner with a drink on the side.
The parking is spacious with 2 hours free, and there were plenty of baby chairs too, so it seemed like a solid choice for a family gathering. With the room spaces available, it'd also suit anyone looking for a Pangyo spot for a group dinner haha.
We properly polished off one order of spicy braised beef short ribs, and the tender meat, sweet-salty sauce, and pleasant kick of spice all suited my taste lol. It's the kind of Pangyo restaurant I'll think of again on a day I want a hearty Korean meal with a bit of atmosphere. Next time I want to try other menu items too.
