Noheung-dong black pork restaurant with a 4pm table for three: Pork80

In short

Pork80 Jeju Airport Branch is a black pork grill house in Noheung-dong, Jeju City, specializing in Nanchuk Matdon (난축맛돈), a native Jeju black pork breed. Booking a 4pm slot through Naver for three — the writer, her husband and her mother — Pork80 served a 600g plate of Nanchuk Matdon for 72,000 won, pork rice for 5,000 won and yeolmu radish noodles for 8,000 won, with a staff member grilling everything over bijangtan charcoal so the table could just talk and eat. Nanchuk Matdon costs more than standard black pork, but the meat came out tender, juicy and with no gamey smell, making Pork80 an easy recommendation near Jeju Airport.

What Pork80 looks like inside and out

There was a big banner announcing it as a filming location for celebrity Choiza (Local Calling), which got me even more excited for the meat before I even walked in haha. The exterior had a retro vibe typical of a barbecue restaurant!

We came at 4pm. The interior was bigger and cleaner than I expected, with wide aisles between tables. None of that typical greasy barbecue-restaurant floor feeling, and the air was fresh too.

It's a layout that would work well for group gatherings or family meals! We sat at a 4-person table against the wall.

There were tips for eating the meat well and explanations of the various sides on display... reading them made me curious enough to also order yeolmu noodles and pork rice!

Wall display introducing nanchuk matdon and Jeju mel braise

On the wall there was information about nanchuk matdon, from a breed designated a natural monument, plus an explanation of "Jeju mel braise" made with Jeju's big anchovies — good light reading while waiting for the food.

There was a guide on how to enjoy "nanchuk matdon" the best way — worth checking out! The grilling service is apparently only offered for nanchuk matdon.

The restrooms are separated by gender inside the restaurant. They were very clean too. The whole place had an overall tidy feel.

Besides nanchuk matdon, the Jeju native black pork, they also had Jeju pork raw ribs and seasoned ribs.

With various side dishes and full meal options, there were plenty of choices to suit different tastes. The drink menu was also really varied — Jeju traditional liquor, makgeolli, draft beer, whiskey highballs, non-alcoholic highballs, you name it 👍🏻

What three people ordered: Nanchuk Matdon 600g and two sides

With three of us, we ordered the signature nanchuk matdon plate (600g) for ₩72,000, pork rice for ₩5,000, and yeolmu noodles for ₩8,000. The meat looked fresh right away, and the fat-to-lean ratio was just right. It came out with scallions and king oyster mushrooms on the side 🤍

What side dishes come with the black pork?

This place serves a nice variety of banchan (side dishes) to go with the meat. Each one was seasoned just right. My mom and I loved the pickled onions so much we asked staff for a refill!

Oh, and they also serve seasoned raw crab as a side dish here. I'm pregnant so all the crab went to my husband haha 🦀

Nanchuk matdon placed over bijangtan charcoal

The staff grilling service over bijangtan charcoal

Personally I love meat grilled over charcoal, and "Pork80" apparently uses top-grade bijangtan charcoal 😲 Plus, thanks to the grilling service that comes with ordering nanchuk matdon, staff grilled everything for us while my mom, husband and I just relaxed and chatted.

No worrying about burning the delicious meat, just chatting away with your group while it grills

Staff-grilled nanchuk matdon with scallions

Once cooked, the meat gets placed on a stand so it doesn't burn, and they add on the nicely grilled scallions and mushrooms too.

Especially the mel braise served in a stone pot — it's packed with umami but not too salty, so dip generously! It was delicious even without adding any other sauce.

Following the guide on how to enjoy it best, I tried the first bite dipped only in matcha salt. Juicy, with chewy fatty bits. The meat itself was more tender than regular black pork. The matcha salt was unfamiliar at first, but the matcha aroma actually paired surprisingly well.

There were so many things to pair with the meat — scallions, shredded scallion, mushrooms — I loved it 👍🏻

How were the pork rice, yeolmu noodles and sides?

I love bibimbap so I ordered the pork rice too. It's a vegetable bibimbap, and they told me it's delicious if you add 3 spoonfuls of the mel braise — so I did it right away! The umami was next level 🤤 I finished every bite.

Cold yeolmu noodles at Pork80

I also ordered the cold yeolmu (young radish) noodles. There wasn't any icy slush in the broth, but the broth itself was refreshingly cold, so it was great as a palate cleanser between bites of meat — highly recommend this dish too ‼️ The yeolmu kimchi was well-fermented and the noodles were nice and chewy — I enjoyed it a lot haha.

With three of us, one plate of nanchuk matdon and two sides left us thoroughly full.
