In short
Deureomtong Sotttukkeong Dakdoritang is a Korean restaurant in Nohyeong-dong, Jeju, where you simmer chicken stew in an iron lid pot right on a drum-can table. Two of us ordered two servings of the pot dakdoritang, egg rolls, and finishing fried rice, and staff even gave us a 10-minute timer for the boil. Nohyeong-dong dakdoritang (Korean chicken stew) spot, Deureomtong Sotttukkeong Dakdoritang

I was trying to decide what to eat in Nohyeong-dong and suddenly craved hot, spicy dakdoritang with a shot of soju 🍺 So I headed to Deureomtong Sotttukkeong Dakdoritang! It's a place where you boil dakdoritang bubbling away in an iron lid heated on top of a huge drum-can table. From the retro vibe to the generous portions to the broth that deepens the longer it simmers, this place hit my taste exactly. Great for group hangouts or just a simple drink, so let me introduce it to anyone looking for a Nohyeong-dong restaurant or bar 🍗
Deureomtong Sotttukkeong Dakdoritang's exterior and location

While hunting for a good dakdoritang restaurant in Jeju's Nohyeong-dong, I found Deureomtong Sotttukkeong Dakdoritang. The name alone tells you exactly what kind of place it is, haha.

Unlike a typical dakdoritang restaurant, here you boil it yourself in an iron lid set on a drum-can table, which got me excited.

It's also not far from Jeju Airport, and since it's open until 3am, it's great for dinner or a late drink.
Inside: the drum-can table atmosphere

The first thing that caught my eye walking in was, of course, the drum-can tables! I arrived right after break time ended, and by evening this Nohyeong-dong restaurant/bar apparently gets a wait line.

Every table has a big drum can, and next to it a huge ladle for stirring the dakdoritang, haha.

With dakdoritang bubbling in the iron lid, it's great for eating with a group — perfect for a get-together with friends or a work dinner.

And some quietly nice touches: there are coat hangers and aprons, baby chairs for those visiting with kids, and blankets for when it's chilly. You can even charge your phone while eating, so no battery worries.
The menu and what we ordered

The menu is mostly the signature pot dakdoritang along with aged kimchi dakbokkeumtang, whole chicken kalguksu, dakgalbi — hot, spicy dishes that make you want a drink!
What we two ordered
My sister and I visited together, and we ordered
- Pot dakdoritang x2 (₩15,000 per person)
- Egg rolls (₩7,000)
- Fried rice (₩3,000)
Between the two of us, the dakdoritang plus sides made for a generous meal and drinking snack combo.

Basic side dishes include kimchi, macaroni salad, braised potatoes, and pickled onions, and you can freely refill whatever you need from the self-serve bar.
The pot dakdoritang, timed with a 10-minute stopwatch

After a short wait, the dakdoritang came out piled high in a big iron lid. They even gave us a stopwatch and said to wait 10 minutes before eating. (Super cute and super kind staff!)
Loaded with domestic chicken, potatoes, and plenty of vegetables, it looked delicious just sitting there. And the real charm here is boiling it yourself right on the table!

As it starts bubbling, the spicy broth smell rises up — and that's the visual that makes you want a drink 🍻

As the broth boils, the seasoning soaks into the ingredients, and the broth gets richer over time. They said 10 minutes was enough, but I let it simmer a bit longer, and the chicken and potatoes were even tastier once fully seasoned, haha.

Thick egg rolls
The egg rolls we ordered alongside the dakdoritang came out thick, perfect for a drink, haha.

It paired nicely with the spicy dakdoritang too. This kind of dish is essential as a drinking snack, haha.

Finishing heart-shaped fried rice
And to finish, of course, fried rice!

I couldn't just skip it, so we ordered fried rice too. Dakdoritang really feels complete once you finish with fried rice 😋

Heart-shaped fried rice — is this flirting or what? Haha. Fried up with the rich leftover sauce in the iron lid, it was the perfect finishing dish >.<
What about parking?
There's a private parking lot right beside the building. It's not very large though, only about 3 spaces, so depending on when you arrive there might be no spot available. Keep that in mind if you're driving, and I'd recommend public transport^.^
In summary
Deureomtong Sotttukkeong Dakdoritang was a great find in Jeju's Nohyeong-dong whenever I crave hot, spicy dakdoritang. The retro vibe of the huge drum-can tables, iron lids, and giant ladles was fun, and with the hearty dakdoritang, egg rolls, and finishing fried rice, it made for a satisfying meal. A great spot for casual drinks with friends or for dinner after a day of traveling around Jeju. If you're looking for a Nohyeong-dong dakdoritang restaurant or a Nohyeong-dong bar, save this one! 🍗🍻
