Songpa Seoul Korean BBQ private room for group dinners: Yukmong Bangi

In short

Yukmong Bangi Direct Branch is a three-floor Korean BBQ restaurant in the Bangi food alley in Songpa, Seoul, where the entire basement floor is made up of private rooms. The writer ordered the pork platter set with Cheongdo minari (water celery) bibim noodles, doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), and radish fried rice, with staff grilling every piece of meat tableside. A solid pick for group dinners, wedding-invitation get-togethers, or family meals near Songpanaru Station.

My boyfriend and I were on a date in Jamsil and wanted good meat, so after some searching we ended up at Yukmong Bangi Direct Branch. It's a recently opened spot, so everything felt clean and fresh, and the staff were genuinely kind, so I had a really pleasant meal haha. Let's get into the review~!

Exterior of Yukmong Bangi Direct Branch in the Bangi food alley

Yukmong Bangi Direct Branch sits in the Bangi food alley, where finding a restaurant with parking is honestly tricky — but this place has room for about 4 cars. Parking space is limited though, so I'd recommend calling ahead before you visit!

Why the entire basement floor being private rooms is great for group dinners and wedding gatherings

The restaurant spans three floors from basement to 2nd floor, and what I liked most was that the whole basement level is made up of private rooms. It's a nicely private space, so it looked ideal for wedding-invitation meetups, family dinners, or any gathering with several people. In fact, when I visited, there was actually a group dinner happening downstairs haha. So if you're looking for a Korean BBQ restaurant in Bangi-dong for a group dinner, it's worth knowing you can eat comfortably in a private room.

The 1st and 2nd floors had a clean, open feel overall, and the 2nd floor has floor-to-ceiling windows so it never felt stuffy. The interior is clean but also has a slightly upscale touch, making it a good choice when you want a bit more atmosphere than your typical Korean BBQ joint.

The wine cellar and corkage-free conditions

There's also a wine cellar tucked in one corner. Beyond soju and beer, they sell a range of drinks including wine and whiskey, so anyone who likes pairing drinks with their meat has plenty of options. In particular, Yukmong Bangi Direct Branch offers free corkage for up to one bottle of wine or whiskey. Anything beyond that is ₩10,000 per bottle, so keep that in mind!

The menu board and what we ordered

Here's the menu board at Yukmong Bangi Direct Branch. Looking it over, they sell both beef and pork, with plenty of options ranging from good-value set menus to à la carte cuts of various parts. There's also a good variety of side dishes to pair with the meat. After some back and forth, we ordered the pork platter set and the Cheongdo minari (water celery) bibim noodles.

The side dishes

While we waited, the side dishes to go with the meat started coming out one by one — lots of different sauces plus japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), yangnyeom gejang (soy-marinated crab), and more, a surprisingly generous spread. Of all of them, the cucumber-cabbage mala mix and the yangnyeom gejang were seriously delicious! Absolutely must-try, that's my tip!!

While we snacked on the side dishes, the charcoal and grill plate finally got set up —

The pork platter set and tableside grilling service

Today's main dish, the pork platter set! Isn't the color of this meat gorgeous.. every cut had a nice balance of fat and lean meat, and thick cuts too — the quality was insane.

One of the best things about Yukmong Bangi Direct Branch is that a staff member grills every single piece of meat for you. We just sat back, chatted, and waited — so convenient lol. I think this kind of service is a real perk for anyone looking for a Korean BBQ restaurant in Bangi-dong for a group dinner.

The herring roe and citron pickled ginger combo

Once the meat was cooked to just the right point, the staff told us it was at its best right now and showed us how to eat it with wasabi and herring roe. So we gave it a try right away, adding herring roe on top — the salty flavor of the roe blended with the meat surprisingly well, better than I expected!

And once the meat was fully cooked, they plated it separately for us — having the staff grill each piece and hand it over ready to eat was definitely convenient.

The staff also shared another tip with us — eating galbisal (rib meat) together with their house-made pickled ginger! They said they make it with citron mixed into the pickled ginger. At first you get that sharp, tangy pickled-ginger bite, but at the end a subtle citron fragrance comes through, making it much more refreshing than expected. Paired with the galbisal, it cuts through the richness and leaves your mouth feeling clean — I really liked this combo too!!

The sides — doenjang jjigae, Cheongdo minari bibim noodles, and radish fried rice

After eating our fill of meat, it's time to try the side dishes too, right? haha. First up was the doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), served in a stone pot brimming full, packed with meat, tofu, and vegetables.

One spoonful and it had that savory, deep flavor — perfect as a palate cleanser between rounds of meat.

And the Cheongdo minari bibim noodles we ordered alongside it! It was piled high with minari (water celery), fragrant just from looking at it. The sweet-and-tangy sauce combined with the minari's aroma, plus chewy noodles — paired with the meat, it was, as always, an unbeatable combo haha.

Radish kimchi fried rice topped with an egg crust

After all that meat, there's one more thing you can't skip — we also ordered the radish kimchi fried rice as our K-dessert! It comes topped with an egg crust, and you mix it all together underneath — the radish kimchi gave it a crunchy texture, and it wasn't as salty as I expected, making it a great way to finish off after the meat. My boyfriend and I ate our way through everything together and somehow cleared almost the entire table lol. Having the staff grill everything for us made the meal so easy, and both the meat and the sides were seriously delicious!

It suits gatherings with several people well, like family meals or wedding-invitation get-togethers, and the meat is great too — so if you're looking for a Korean BBQ restaurant in Bangi-dong for a group dinner, I recommend Yukmong Bangi Direct Branch~!
