Why volume straightening before giving birth?

With the birth coming up, one of the things I've been most worried about lately is my hair. The thing I liked most walking in was how clean and comfortable the whole place felt.

At a lot of salons, several people get treatments in the same shared space. But Tthe Art Hair has chairs set up 1:1, so it felt like my flow and space never overlapped with anyone else's.

Being pregnant and wanting one last relaxed hair appointment before giving birth, this felt even more comfortable to me. It wasn't a chaotic mix of people, so I could get the treatment calmly, and the salon itself was kept clean, so there was nothing uncomfortable about being there the whole time. When you're sitting for a long treatment like this, that kind of comfortable atmosphere quietly matters a lot.

The consultation with designer Seunghwan

I got this treatment from designer Seunghwan. I heard he's very experienced, so I was looking forward to it even more, and the first impression was great because the consultation itself was so thorough. He kept asking what treatments I'd had done before in particular. Honestly, I couldn't remember exactly what I'd had done in the past, but he checked my current hair condition while carefully tracing back through my treatment history too.

He also asked what kind of style I wanted, and I could tell he was trying to match the approach to my current hair condition. Instead of just doing volume straightening because I asked for it, he factored in my current hair condition, past treatment history, and desired style together, which made me trust the process.

How the crown-frizz volume straightening was done

The biggest reason I decided on volume straightening this time was wanting my hair as neat and low-maintenance as possible before giving birth. I figured I wouldn't have much time to style my hair once I was busy taking care of the baby. My biggest worry was the top of my head — my hair isn't heavily curly overall, but there's frizz at the crown, so after washing and drying it, the top would puff up and look unkempt.

So with the volume straightening, I wanted a style that looked naturally settled rather than stiffly flattened. Seunghwan kept checking my hair condition throughout the process and worked carefully. He smoothed out the crown frizz I'd been worried about with the flat iron, and the parts that had looked messy from flyaways and frizz before were clearly tidied up. With the whole head calmed down and the frizz reduced, it looked much neater.

Before the treatment, the crown frizz meant that when I dried my hair naturally, it didn't fall evenly and puffed up in spots. With the top of my head not settled, my whole hairstyle looked a bit messy.

But after the volume straightening, my hair texture overall became much calmer. Where the crown frizz and flyaways used to stand out, my hair now lies neat and looks so much cleaner! And it wasn't stuck too flat either, so it's close to the natural style I wanted, which made me happy.

What I liked most was the sense that my morning styling time will shrink. I probably won't have much time to spend on my hair after giving birth, but having it neatly sorted out ahead of time means just washing and drying it should get the style mostly in place, which is a relief.
