Taedon Geomdan Sageori Branch — a hearty pork BBQ family dinner review from a Geomdan Sageori favorite

Looking for a spot that would satisfy everyone from the kid to the parents, I went to Taedon, which has been getting a lot of buzz as a Geomdan Sageori favorite.

Thanks to the great combination of clean, gamey-smell-free samgyeopsal (pork belly) and the side dishes, I ended up having a really satisfying meal!

What to order at Taedon, and which sides come free?

I was genuinely surprised by the quantity and quality of the basic table setup that comes with ordering meat.

Along with the main meat, they set the table with ttukbaegi (stone pot) steamed egg, bibim jjolmyeon, Daegu Seomun Market-style flat dumplings, and assorted mushrooms — all free!

The portions weren't just a taste-sized sample either — they were quite generous. Eating a bit of everything together meant we didn't need to order several extra sides for our family dinner, and the table still ended up full.

This time we ordered the pork platter set, a deep-broth kimchi jjigae, and kimchi fried rice with added cheese.

One Handon pork platter: how does each cut taste?

First off, I loved that the Korean pork (hanwoo/handon) assortment let us try everything from familiar cuts like pork belly to cuts with completely different textures, all on one platter.

When the meat went on the grill, the color already looked fresh, and once grilled, the outside turned golden while the inside stayed juicy. Since we weren't eating the same cut over and over, the slightly different textures kept things from getting boring till the end.

It went well eaten with the tangy jjolmyeon too, and wrapping the meat in a flat dumpling with Dubai ssamjang (dipping sauce) on top for one big bite was also delicious.

After the meat, we had the kimchi jjigae. Big chunks of meat plopped right in. It was a nicely tangy-spicy kimchi jjigae that seemed to wash away all the meat's greasiness.

We finished with the kimchi fried rice and cheese. It's the kind of dish that properly fills you up with carbs when just eating meat feels incomplete — even though I was pretty full, I kept reaching for more. Truly a Korean dessert, haha!

What does Taedon's Dubai ssamjang go best with?

One of the standout points at Taedon, a Geomdan Sageori favorite, is the Dubai ssamjang.

Unlike regular ssamjang, its defining feature is the crunchy texture from the kadayif, which added variety and crunch to the experience of eating meat after meat.

Adding a sauce like this into the familiar combo of salt, ssamjang, and vegetables made eating samgyeopsal feel like a fresh experience.
