On a weekend evening, I took my husband, my 9-year-old son, and my 7-year-old daughter to fill up on hearty Korean food at Jeonju House, a well-known restaurant in Yuseong, Daejeon. The moment you lift the hot lid, a nutty rice smell fills the air. Glossy, chewy rice topped with spicy kimchi and meat was the kind of hearty bite that melts away a whole day's fatigue. Pouring warm water in at the end to make nutty rice-crust tea (누룽지) was the perfect, soothing finish.
