Wirye shabu-shabu lunch on a diet, with unlimited beef chuck: Dadam
In short
Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam Wirye Branch is an all-you-can-eat vegetable and beef shabu-shabu restaurant on the 3rd floor of G&G Plaza in Seongnam, Gyeonggi, a 5-minute walk from Namwirye Station. On a weekday lunch with her dieting husband, the writer used the half-and-half broth pot and refilled beef chuck and about 40 kinds of vegetables three times, finishing with kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) and an affogato. A fresh vegetable and unlimited beef spot with produce sourced daily from Garak Market :: Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam Wirye Branch
The weather's suddenly turned chilly and I've been craving hot shabu-shabu like crazy~ So I went with my husband, who just started dieting, to an all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu place near Namwirye Station close to home! I'll introduce this shabu-shabu spot where everything from the store to the ingredients, taste, dessert, and price was seriously perfect.

Inside the restaurant: bright, clean and easy to move around

Even though I visited on a weekday lunchtime, customers kept coming in. I saw a lot of families but also plenty of group visits. The interior overall felt clean and tidy, and the tables weren't cramped together, so it was comfortable to eat.
Personally, what I liked was the window seating. From there you can look out at a nice view of Changgokcheon stream in Wirye while you eat, so it's basically a café-view spot too, not just for the food, haha. There's also group seating for 6 or more, making it a great Namwirye-area restaurant for family meals, friend gatherings, or work dinners.
The vegetable self-bar: 40 kinds, plus noodles and dumplings
Right next to the entrance is the self-bar, and the vegetables were laid out looking so fresh and moist! Haha, I was surprised how good they looked the moment I saw them.
Can you tell how the vegetables at the self-bar look? At other shabu-shabu places, even with lots of varieties, you sometimes find wilted leaves or soft spots mixed in — but here, everything on display when I visited was seriously so fresh. Turns out the owner of Dadam Shabu Shabu worked as a vegetable wholesale broker at Garak Market for 20 years, and sources about 40 kinds of fresh vegetables from Garak Market every single day!
Comparing it to big-chain shabu-shabu places I've been to, the freshness of the vegetables here really stood out. Meat matters too, of course, but I tend to eat a lot of vegetables, so this part especially pleased me. There were also plenty of sides — rice cake, sujebi (hand-torn noodle soup), noodles, shrimp balls, fish cake, dumplings — and of course all unlimited!
Is the beef really unlimited? Beef chuck and brisket refills
Another reason I came to Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam Wirye Branch was this: unlimited beef 🥩 Good-quality beef brisket and beef chuck, all-you-can-eat!!!
When eating shabu-shabu, sometimes you worry the meat's running low and think 'should I order a bit more?' But here, since it's all-you-can-eat, there's no need to worry — you can add as much meat as you want without feeling self-conscious. Piling in tons of fresh vegetables and adding as much meat as I wanted made me pure happy, haha.
Sauces and fried rice ingredients that make shabu-shabu better

Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam Wirye Branch has 3 sauces ready — peanut sauce, chili sauce, spicy soy sauce — plus cheongyang chili paste and kimchi. I added the cheongyang chili paste into that soy sauce and it was just perfect >.<
Right next to that, fried rice ingredients are also provided free and unlimited. Raw egg, rice, seaweed flakes, sesame oil, all neatly arranged :) Eating fried rice after shabu-shabu is genuinely so good, haha. Other places charge extra to fry it for you... here it's free, even better.
Half-and-half broth: two soup flavors in one pot

Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam Wirye Branch basically offers a split pot where you can choose 2 broths at once. I always struggle at shabu-shabu places deciding between spicy or plain — total decision paralysis — but being able to enjoy two flavors at once meant my husband and I, who have different tastes, could each pick spicy broth and plain broth and eat happily :)

All sorts of fresh vegetables and sides, plus beef chuck for my dieting husband, haha, and we even neatly gathered wolnamssam (Vietnamese rice paper wrap) ingredients as much as we liked. We piled our plates about 3 times...
We only brought vegetables we genuinely like and eat well, since you shouldn't leave food unfinished. Those kimchi dumplings were so delicious too, and the fish cake and shrimp balls were really plump and tasty — I recommend them :)

The spicy broth was about as spicy as Shin Ramyun, maybe a bit less. The vegetable broth had a basic, refreshing, clean taste. Alternating between the two is the golden rule!

Pulling out the beef cooked in the shabu-shabu pot and wrapping it up with tons of vegetables in wolnamssam was seriously delicious too, and felt healthy! Haha. I told my dieting husband it's all healthy vegetables and meat here, so eat freely — and he really did eat as much as he wanted without limit, haha.
My husband gave up saying he couldn't eat any more, but I insisted we absolutely had to finish with kalguksu (knife-cut noodles). In the end we brought over a small portion of kalguksu, and my husband, saying it was delicious, ate it all the way to the end. Unfortunately we were too full for the fried rice.
Dessert at Dadam: free ice cream, coffee and affogato

Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam Wirye Branch even provides soft-serve ice cream and coffee for free. How can it be this perfect?

The staff kindly recommended trying affogato coffee made in-store. You first get the ice cream into a cup, then extract a shot of espresso from the coffee machine and pour it over. Of course, there are also cones ready if you just want plain ice cream.

My husband had affogato coffee twice— and I had an iced Americano with ice cream. It was the perfect palate cleanser to end the meal......
How takeout works at Dadam Shabu Shabu Wirye

Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam Wirye Branch also offers takeout, so you can enjoy the same shabu-shabu you had in-store at home. Basic broth plus one sauce set starts at ₩3,000, with options to add more broth or sauce. You put whatever vegetables and sides you want into containers and pay by weight on a scale! The takeout price is surprisingly reasonable, isn't it?
If you try making shabu-shabu at home yourself, buying vegetables separately gets expensive and you end up with a huge shopping list — but here you can pack fresh vegetables exactly as you want, in exactly the amount you want, and the ingredient prep is done right there. It seemed perfect to take along for camping or a housewarming meal. Next time, my husband and I decided to get takeout and bring it to a campsite, haha. That was my review of Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam Wirye Branch, the all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu spot we ate so well at!
