K-drama PPL spotted this donkatsu set at Gin Jaryoko in Ansan

Hours are 11:00 - 21:00, with a break time of 14:30 - 16:30, last order at 20:30, and closed every Wednesday. Parking isn't available in the basement of the Geumgang Plaza building, so you'll need to use a nearby public parking lot — and there's no parking support. The building has separate men's/women's restrooms, solo dining, takeout, delivery, and local currency are all fine, and you can get a free 1.5-portion (large) upsize.

I visited Gin Jaryoko Ansan Gojan Branch after seeing it in a K-drama

Today I'm introducing Gin Jaryoko Ansan Gojan Branch, located in Gojan-dong, Ansan. I was watching the drama 'Chaebol Detective 2' and saw a Gin Jaryoko product placement ad that looked so delicious I thought, I really have to try this...! Then I found out there was an Ansan Gojan branch, so I went right away 🤍

By the way, neither the building's basement lot nor the public parking lot offered free parking support...!ㅠㅠ On weekends the public parking lot opens for free, so keep that in mind if you're visiting!

Order at the kiosk by the entrance

At Gin Jaryoko Ansan Gojan Branch, you order at the kiosk right at the entrance.

Inside — all bar-table seats, great for solo dining

All the seating at Gin Jaryoko Ansan Gojan Branch is bar-table style, so it looks like a comfortable, no-pressure spot for solo diners! When I visited during lunch hour, there were indeed a lot of people eating alone.

There's a basket under each chair for storing your bag or belongings, so you can comfortably tuck them away below.

Menu — set meals, curry dishes, udon, and a free 1.5-portion add-on

The Gin Jaryoko menu is made up of set meals, curry dishes, and udon (hot/cold). It's really great that you can add a free 1.5 portion to any menu item 👍🏻

Self-bar

At the self-bar you can help yourself to miso soup, diced radish kimchi, and pickled radish on a small plate. Water is from a water purifier too!

How to use Gin Jaryoko

• Order at the kiosk; check your number, and they'll call your number when the food is ready.
• Water, side dishes, miso soup, and small plates are all self-serve at the self-bar next to the kiosk.

You can get a free 1.5-portion upsize, but if you leave food over after upsizing, there's a ₩3,000 environmental fee (only when upsized)!

There's also a receipt review event. If you take part in the Naver receipt review event, you get a canned drink on the house.

What we ordered — demiglace donkatsu set ₩15,000, sake-don ₩14,000

We ordered the demiglace donkatsu set for ₩15,000 and sake-don for ₩14,000.

Demiglace donkatsu set

Unlike the regular demiglace donkatsu, the set comes with a sweet potato croquette and fried shrimp on top! The regular demiglace donkatsu apparently comes with 3 pieces of cutlet.

It looked so delicious 💗 The sauce comes poured over by default, so if you're the type who likes to dip rather than pour, just ask the staff in advance!

There was mustard sauce served on the plate too — I didn't realize mustard and donkatsu went so well together? It had been a while since I'd had donkatsu, and it was so good. The regular size already comes with a generous 2 pieces of cutlet, so the 1.5-portion is really something only big eaters should order...!

The fried shrimp and sweet potato croquette that came with it were really soft, and with tartar sauce they were so tasty 👍🏻

Sake-don (salmon rice bowl)

Have I ever seen a bowl this big before...? The sake-don came plated beautifully inside a huge bowl. Because of the large bowl, the portion might look small, but there's plenty of food...!

You pour Gin Jaryoko's house-made soy sauce all over, then put the salmon on top of the rice and eat it with wasabi. The salmon melts in your mouth, and the soy sauce isn't too salty, so you should pour it on generously!
