Enjoying a hearty Chinese meal in a spacious, clean restaurant, making full use of the self-service corner and dessert at Jjamppong Jijon Yeoksam Branch

I went to Jjamppong Jijon Yeoksam Branch with a friend for a weekend late lunch. It's walkable from Yeoksam Station, and the store is spacious so it was comfortable to eat there. Besides jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), there's a good variety of dishes like fried rice and sweet and sour pork, so it's a good option when looking for a Yeoksam Station lunch Chinese restaurant.

The vibe inside and tablet ordering

Going inside, the store was more spacious than I expected, and the tables had comfortable spacing, making for a relaxed atmosphere.

Overall it was well organized, and there were also window-side seats. Each table had a tablet installed, so I could look over the menu slowly and order right away.

The owner was also friendly throughout the meal, which made for a pleasant stay. Worth keeping in mind for anyone looking for a Yeoksam-dong restaurant to visit as a group for a work dinner.

What's in the self-service corner

On one side of the store there was a self-service corner where you could freely help yourself to rice and side dishes.

You could take as much pickled radish, onion, and kimchi as you wanted, and tongs, scissors, and small plates were all neatly arranged.

There were even separate bowls and utensils for kids, and aprons were available for use. Plum tea and coffee were also set up, so dessert could be handled in the same spot right after the meal. Among Yeoksam Station lunch Chinese restaurants, I liked that these conveniences were so well equipped here.

I ordered the soft tofu jjamppong rice, and my friend chose the crab fried rice. On top of that we ordered a small Sichuan sweet and sour pork to share. We got 4 fried dumplings as a review event service.

A bottle of water and packaged pickled radish came out as basics, which felt hygienic.

Once all the food arrived, the table was packed full. Being able to taste jjamppong rice, fried rice, and sweet and sour pork all together made for a great lineup of Yeoksam Station lunch Chinese restaurant dishes.

Small Sichuan sweet and sour pork coated in red sauce

Was the small Sichuan sweet and sour pork enough for two?

The Sichuan sweet and sour pork came out evenly coated in red sauce, with dried chili peppers mixed in giving off a spicy aroma.

Trying a piece, the size was quite generous, and inside the crispy batter was a thick cut of meat.

A large piece of sweet and sour pork picked up with chopsticks

Even with the sauce coating it, the crispy texture of the fry still held up somewhat, and the spicy-sweet flavor kept me reaching for more. Eating it alongside the cabbage helped reset my palate in between. Even as the small size, there was plenty of it for two people to share alongside other dishes.

The broth and ingredients in the soft tofu jjamppong rice

My soft tofu jjamppong rice came out in a large bowl, filled generously with red broth. The soft tofu was in big chunks, and there was a variety of ingredients like squid, meat, wood ear mushroom, vegetables, and quail eggs.

Trying the broth first, it was fiery yet the flavors of the ingredients blended together into something rich. The soft tofu was plentiful enough to scoop up in big spoonfuls, and it paired well with the spicy broth's soft texture. The rice came separately, and mixing it into the broth made for a filling meal.

It was a good Yeoksam Station lunch Chinese restaurant dish to reach for when craving something hot and spicy.

Crab fried rice served with jjajang sauce on the side

Crab fried rice, with jjajang sauce and jjamppong broth too

My friend's crab fried rice came with a generous serving of jjajang (black bean) sauce alongside it. The fried rice, well mixed with egg and vegetables, looked fluffy, and paired with the jjajang sauce it could be enjoyed with a richer flavor.

It also came with jjamppong broth, good for alternating bites. When my friend gave me a bit to try, the fried rice itself was clean-tasting and paired well with the jjajang sauce.

4 fried dumplings from the review event

There were 4 fried dumplings total from the review event. They were freshly fried and warm, crispy on the outside with meat and vegetables packed generously inside. A great service dish to enjoy alongside everything else we ordered.

A glass of plum tea taken from the self-service corner

After finishing the meal, we got plum tea from the self-service corner to drink. After eating something so fiery and spicy, finishing with cool plum tea cleaned up the palate.

Jjamppong Jijon Yeoksam Branch was a spacious, clean restaurant with a well-equipped self-service corner. The soft tofu jjamppong rice was packed with ingredients, and the Sichuan sweet and sour pork was spicy-sweet and good for sharing between two. With the owner's friendly service on top, it was a comfortable Yeoksam Station lunch Chinese restaurant to eat at.
