Jeonpo, Busan gukbap spot with kid-friendly milmyeon: Sanbandeul
In short
Sanbandeul Pork Gukbap is a pork soup (gukbap) restaurant on Jeonpo Café Street in Seomyeon, Busan, officially listed as a good-value business. Visiting with a child who wanted noodles, the writer ordered the bibim milmyeon (spicy cold mixed wheat noodles) and king dumpling set for 10,900 won and the spicy pork gukbap stage 1 for 8,900 won; the milmyeon was mild enough for the child, and the gukbap broth was rich and smoky like Japanese ramen. Sanbandeul Pork Gukbap is an easy, filling meal to share with a kid in Jeonpo-dong.

I'm always stressing about what to feed my kid for dinner haha😅 My kid wanted milmyeon (cold wheat noodles), so we went to Sanbandeul Pork Gukbap in Jeonpo, Seomyeon. It's a well-known good-value gukbap spot in Seomyeon, and I heard they'd added milmyeon as a new menu item, so it worked out perfectly since I wanted rice and my kid wanted noodles. Let me write up how our meal went😆😆

There's a menu board at the entrance so you can check it out before you go in👏 It's a certified good-value business, and I found it wasn't just the price — the food tasted great and the portions were generous too👍
Inside Sanbandeul Pork Gukbap: can you eat alone?

Here's the inside of Sanbandeul Pork Gukbap. There are about 8 bar seats facing the open kitchen. It's a comfortable spot for eating alone, and since the kitchen is open you can see how clean it is👏
Further inside there are two 2-person tables and a 4-person table, so it's also good for visiting with family or friends in a group.
On one wall there's a bit of the story behind Sanbandeul. The name comes from the geographic features of Busan's beautiful Sanbandeul area — lots of mountains and lots of fields. It's meant to reflect the restaurant's dedication and sincerity in serving the most comfortable, filling meal in the world, made from honest ingredients given by nature. Sanbandeul's pork gukbap is said to bring together smoky char (Chinese-style), tender jambon-style meat (Western-style), and a savory, umami-rich broth (Japanese-style) into perfect balance within one bowl of Korean food. They call it a gukbap that's the most Busan-style yet unlike anything you can taste anywhere else — only at Sanbandeul. Waiting for the food, I was already looking forward to the taste. There are also aprons on one wall for self-service use if you need them.
Sanbandeul Pork Gukbap menu and how to order at the kiosk

Here's the Sanbandeul Pork Gukbap menu. There are single dishes as well as set menus that make for a good-value, filling meal👍

You order at the kiosk by the entrance, then staff will guide you to a seat.

If you take part in the Naver receipt event, you can get a free king dumpling — one per receipt per person, and multiple people in a group can each participate. I ordered the bibim milmyeon + king dumpling set (10,900 won) and the spicy pork gukbap stage 1 (8,900 won).
How to season and eat pork gukbap at Sanbandeul

While waiting after being seated, I learned there's a recommended way to enjoy Sanbandeul's gukbap. Mix the scallions, bean sprouts, and wood ear mushroom toppings well into the broth first, then taste it. After eating about 30–50% of it, add chives to taste for a different flavor experience. If it's too salty, you can ask for extra broth to adjust the seasoning.
The dishes I ordered arrived. Such generous portions and they looked so delicious😆😆
Is the bibim milmyeon mild enough for kids?

I mixed up the bibim milmyeon nicely and ate it with the meat — it wasn't harsh or overpowering, just really tasty! The lighting at the table made the milmyeon look pale in photos, but in person the seasoning had soaked in well for great savoriness. It was great that my kid could eat it without it being spicy👍 There was meat mixed into the noodles too, which made it even better eating it together!

What spicy pork gukbap stage 1 tastes like
This is the spicy pork gukbap stage 1. It came piled with toppings, rice already mixed in, and a whole egg.

It tasted different from the pork gukbap I'm used to — more like rice soaked in Japanese ramen broth. The broth had a smoky char to it, spicy and rich and deep, with plenty of vegetables and meat, and it was so good👍👍 The egg especially was amazing. How did they boil it so perfectly, ugh

The king dumplings were crispy outside and juicy inside, and they were even better eaten together with the bibim milmyeon!👍

They also gave us sikhye (sweet rice punch) for dessert. It wasn't too sweet, refreshing on the palate, and nicely cool! They said it's made fresh daily with Korean rice, and you could really tell it was fresh👍
